Or that if the Western Al lies continue to veto the So viet plan, the Communists will Interfere with traffic to the city isolated 110 miles deep in East German terri tory. Therefore 2,200.000 West Berliners look ahead with Iheir fingers crossed to May 16 when President Eisenhow er, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. French President Charles de Gaulle and British Prime Minister Harold Mac millan sit down in Paris at meeting that might decide their future. Normal Days Lacking "Fear" perhaps is too strong a word for Berlin's feeling. The average Berliner hasn't had many normal days since the outbreak of World War I in 1914. He's lived through war and defeat, inflation, Nazi-Communist riots, Hitler, air raids, Russian conquest, occupation and blockade. Ont such experience would do most people for a lifetime. If he seems courageous noir and a bit nonchalant in tht face of the Soviet threat it might be because it's not pos sible to be afraid forever. Come to this glittering mo dern city with its elegant shops, its improving economy, its chic un-German looking girls and it's hard to believe that Communism is a five cent subway ride away.
