Organized

Sunday school will be or
ganized in the Willow Springs
school house Sunday at 9:45
a.m.
The Sunday school is being
organized by and will be an
affiliate of the American Sun'
day School Union, an interde
nominational Home mission
board.
The Union has been oper
ating since 1817 with the pur
pose of organizing and main
taining rural Sunday schools.
Union Sunday schools already
operating in this area include
Antelope, Brownsboro, Cop
co, Foots Creek, Forest Acres,
Meadows, Table Rock and
Savage Creek.
All interested residents of
the Willow Springs area are
invited to attend the first
meeting and to be a part of
the Sunday school. There will
be an adult class, as well as
classes for the children and
young people.
Deanery Priests
To Hold Meeting
Priests of the Medford Dean
ery ol the Archdiocese of Port
land in Oregon will meet at
the Sacred Heart parish house
Tuesday morning for the
group's annual spring discus
sion of theological problems.
A paper on dogmatic theol
ogy will be read by the Rev.
William S. Walsh of Our Lady
of the Mountain church in
Ashland.
All other priests in attend
ance are required to prepare
papers on a problem of moral
theology. Some of these are to
be discussed at the meeting
and all are submitted to Arch
diocesan chancery offices.
The Medford. Deanery is
composed of the Catholic
church parishes in Douglas,
Josephine and Jackson coun
ties and is presided over by
the Very Rev. Carl Mai, pas
tor of Sacred Heart church in
Medford.
Following the morning meet
ing, Father Mai and his as
sistants, the Rev. William Mc
Leod and the Rev. John A. Ilg,
will be hosts at a luncheon for
the group.
Course Continues
At Eastwood Baptist
Sunday at 9:30 a.m. the
Rev. Clfford Young, pastor of
Eastwood Baptist church, will
continue his course for inquir
ers and new church members.
The theme will be "Declare
the New Life." A baptismal
service is being arranged for
May 8.
At 10:43 a.m. worship hour
the pastor will speak on "The
Unmerciful Servant." The
ehancel choir will sing.
At 5:30 p.m. the Eastwood
Baptist Youth fellowship will
have a Mexico trip rally at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don
Blair.
At the 7:30 p.m. service the
pastor will speak on "The Red
Thread of the Bible."
Tuesday the long range
planning committee will meet
and April 27, the quarterly
business meeting will be held.
Saturday, April 23, the Bap
tist Youth fellowship will
sponsor a rummage sale at the
Fehl building. Proceeds from
the sale will go to their Mex
ico trip fund.

Party Set Friday
Central Point - A white
elephant party will be held
Friday, April 20, at Church
of Christ, Third and Oak sts.,
Central Point, starting with a
potluck dinner.
The event, for church and
Bible school, is the pay-off
party for the recent contest
in the Bible school in which
students received "play"
money as points for their ef
forts. An auction will be held
as a feature of the party, at
which time all present may
bid on any white elephant
being offered at the time.

"white elephants" to the

Washington - IUPD -Sen.
Wayne Morse (D-Ore.) has ac
cused Rep. Thomas L. Ashley
D-Ohio) of making a "false
statement" in describing him
as being in the pay of Team
ster President James Hoffa.
Morse said in a statement
that Ashley's accusation was
"a desperate tactic of a guil
ty conscience and constitutes
McCarthylsm at Its lowest
gutter level."
Ashley had said Morse was
in Hoffa's Dav because he ac
cepted a lecture fee for ad.
dressing a Teamsters union
meeting in Toledo.
Morse, an announced candi
date for the Democratic presi
dential nomination, said "I
have received no campaign
