1 I MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Or. Sunday, April 17, I960 Truman Breaks Candidacy Silence New York - (HIT - Former President Hnrry S. Truman broke his silence on presiden tial preferences Friday long enough to declare "the Re publican papers" want Sen. John F. Kennedy or Adlai E. Stevenson to get the Demo cratic nomination. "But our party is going to nominate somebody who can win," Truman added. The for mer President thereupon re lumed his determined silence about his awn choice for the Democratic nomination. There was no further indi cation from Truman's remarks wnether his statement about the "Republican papers" meant he himself is cool to Kenr;dy and Stevenson-and the ex-President went right on to deny he has decided for Sen. Stuart Symington. Guilty Plea Found In Triple Shooting ' Spokane-IUPD-Edmond Allen Gray was found guilty Friday of first degree murder for the fatal shooting of his estranged wife, Donna, 19, and her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Maier, last Oct. 8. Early filing is desirable, Strous said, because the in formation on applications is needed for use in computing the avei ge price received by growers. This must be done before the payment rates for shorn wool and unshorn lambs can be determined. Since April 30 is on Saturday this year, the final date for filing applications is May 2. Applications being filed at this time are to show all sales of wool and unshorn lambs during the period between April 1, 1959, and March 31, 1960, Strous said. For a sale to be considered completed during that period, title must r.ood MUilwt at tntmatad primarily in yowaatinf action -... Inaccuracy on this point is the most troublesome problem in administering the wool payment program, he said. Under the wool program, payments are made to grow ers as an incentive to increase wool production. The pay ment rate is the percentage necessary to bring the nation al average price received by growers up to the incentive level of 62 cents a pound. Un der the percentage system, the grower who receives the highest price for his wool also receives the largest payment.
