(Knackstedt photo) Colorado Woman Visits Here; Has 60 Great-Grandchildren Mrs. Mabel Littlefield re cently arrived In Jackson county to see her 60th great grandchild. He is Calvin Brett Littlefield, born March 9 at Etna, Calif., to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Carrol Littlefield. Mrs. Littlefield,. although she maintains a home at Pao nia, Colo., spends most of her time visiting members of her family scattered in five dif ferent western states. She is at present a guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Littlefield, near Central Point, where they have lived since 1952. Jesse Carrol Littlefield, fa ther of the latest great grand child, was graduated from Crater High school and Ore gon Technical Institute. He and his wife, the former Shir ley Holt of Palo Alto, Calif., were married in August, 1958, shortly after he had complet ed his army training at Ft. Ord, Calif. Calvin Brett is their first child. The young couple and their Infant son are living near Central Point and he is employed by Petram and Purdy, contractors. Mrs. Llttlefield's mother, Mrs. J. W. Holt, left for her home in Palo Alto last week after a stay here with the family. Other grandchildren and great grandchildren of the Colorado woman known in this area are Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Brien, and children, Ralene and Jackie, Central Point; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Jones and son, Duane, former ly of Central Point and now of Etna, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Littlefield and chil dren, Peter, Sally, Debra, Lot tie and Karen, now living in Uravan, Colo. The elder Mrs. Littlefield, born in 1882, is the mother of 11 children, the first of .whom was born in 1899 when she was 17 years old. There are two sets of twins. Five sons and their wives, five daugh ters and their husbands, 33 grandchildren, of whom 28 are married, and 60 great grand children live in Oregon, Cali fornia, Idaho, Montana and Colorado. t FREEZING POINT Boston-Sea water will usu ally freeze at a temperature of 28 degrees Fahrenheit. Extension Units Plan Meetings Three home extension units will meet this week with members hearing lessons on the care and handling of syn thetic fabrics and fibers. Sams Valley The Sams Valley unit will meet Tuesday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. with Mrs. Arnold Gosnell on Sams Valley road. Mrs. Lester James and Mrs. Edgar Pleasant will give the lessons. Those attending are to take a container of soap or detergent of the brand they use for washing dishes and clothes. All women in the commu nity are invited to attend. A potluck luncheon will feature a favorite Easter or Jewish dish. Those attending are to take their own table service. Willow Springs The April meeting of the Willow Springs unit has been change and will meet Tues day, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Archie Purdy, 3521 Oak Pine Way, Central Point. During the morning session final plans will be made for the May festival which will be held in Central Point May 11. Election of officers will also be held. Mrs. Fred M. Brown and Mrs. E. Pershall will give the lesson in the afternoon. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon. Lone Pine Lone Pine group will meet Thursday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Roxy Ann Grange hall. A cancer film, "Man Alive," will be shown at 2:30 p.m. by Mrs. Jack James. A doctor will be present to noia a ques tion and answer session it was reported. Members are to take plants for the spring plant auction to be held that day. May festi val Dlans will be reported by the committee members ana election of unit officers held. Mrs. Herman Budd Mitchel and Mrs. E. L. Barnes will give the project lesson. Noon luncheon hostesses will be Mrs. W. E. Accord, Mrs. L. Arnold, Mrs. F. C. Blanken ship and Mrs. C. M. Keene. Bethel to Hold Dinner Meeting Bethel 14. International Or. der of Job's Daughters, will meet Wednesday, April 20, in the Masonic temple for a 6 p.m. dinner at which secret Masonic dad's and daughters will reveal their identities. All girls have issued invita tions to their secret aaas. Garden Club Names Show Winners Rogue River-Over 250 per-1 and Mrs. Rose Moore, Gold Burkhart l while: Mn rtoy Lar sons attended the thirteenth annual flower show given re cently by Rogue River Gar den club. They came from Wolf Creek, Grants Pass, Gold Hill, Central Point, Phoenix, Medford and Ash land to make entries and view the show. A number of state and national Garden club officers were present. Sweepstakes winners were Linda Larson, 8-year-old, for the best arrangement in the junior division; Alicia Guz man, also 8, "as you like it" in the junior division; Mrs. M. C. Avergaard, Wolf Creek, best arrangement; Mrs. Har old Dunham, Rogue River, best primrose and best tulip; Hill, best house plant. Many blue, red and white ribbons also were awarded. Among special displays was one of named daffodils pre pared by Frank Hall. Many nurseries from Rogue River and Grants Pass contributed to the show with prizes and displays of plants and shrubs. Also on display was a pic nic table donated by Main Building Supply, funds from which went to the family of the late James Cowie. Rogue River Mayor John Lcyan was awarded the table. Mrs. Earl Brooks was show chairman; Mrs. F. M. Shontz, luncheon bar chairman; and Mrs. Harold Dunham, plant sale chairman. A teacher-parent consults tion period is planned from 2 to 2:30 o'clock preceding the meeting.
