Easy Ed MacAuley, St. Louis coach, wants anybody but Jim Duffy as one of the Officials for the deciding game in the best of seven series. Red Auerbach, Boston's ooach, prefers Duffy ahead of all of the other NBA officials. Ben Kerner, the Hawk own er, and MacAuley huddled with NBC President Maurice Podoloff and supervisor of teferees Jocko Collins for al most two hours here Thurs day night after St. Louis had evened the series at three games apiece with a 105-102 victory over the Celtics. Hang On At Finish ' One thing is certain. Men dy Rudolph, who worked Thursday's game with Duffy, will be one of the officials in Boston. Buried in the post-game tur moil was the actual contest itself. The Hawks blew a 27 polnt lead, but hung on at the finish to maintain the se ries pattern, which has been Boston winning one and then St. Louis evening the count. Cliff Hagan pumped in 3.G points for the Hawks, before being injured in a collision during the last minute of play and being forced from the game. The Celtics, gunning for their third NBA title in four seasons, scored only 16 points In the first quarter and 12 in the third period. A 38-point Boston spree in the final ses sion fell short.
