Paratroopers Being
Sent to Bolster v
Strength in Pacific
.Washington - (UPD A battle
ready force of 2,000 Army
paratroopers will be sent to
the Western Pacific in June
to bolster American strength
for meeting any limited ag
gression in that area, it was
announced today.
The Army said that the unit,
a reenforced group from the
elite 82nd Airborne Division
at Ft. Bragg, N.C., will be
based at Okinawa and sup
ported by a new mobile sup
ply command.
It will become a part of the
25th Infantry Division, which

On Okinawa, where the bat
tle group will go, the Marines
currently have two thirds of
a division and the Army has

missiles which can fire either
atomic or conventional war
heads. It also is sending Hawk
anti-aircraft missiles, design
ed for defense against low
level attacks, to Okinawa.

In Bay Area Show
A painting by Warren Wolf,
1517 South Ivy st., has been
accepted for an art exhibit
at Grace Episcopal cathedral,
San Francisco, on the theme
"Church Art Today." A jury
of five men and , women
screened the entries, which
were from all parts of . the
United States.
Wolf's paintings an oil, is
entitled "The False Prophets."
The competition was open to
paintings, sculpture, and
works in textiles, mosaics
and stained glass. It will be
open April 3-May 1.
Wolf, who is art instructor
at Medford High school, did
the painting last summer. The
artist also has been invited
to display his work in the
first one-man show to be held
in the new art gallery at
Redding, Calif., and this ex
hibit is open now.
