They planted golden weeping wil lows donated "by Kershaw Nursery. Charles Hoover talked to the girls about his plans for planting trees so that they form a definite'color pattern when seen from the air. He explained how the lakes and tree planting are a way of rlaiming the desert - like land in that area. Capris 'Skirts Jamaices Blouses Matching Sets For Only Parker Woods' 1 j Choir Concert Friday Night To Be Varied Variety is the keynote of the program which the Adel phian Concert choir will pre sent in Medford Friday, April 1, under the sponsorship of Medford High School choir. The concert will be held in the school auditorium at 8 p.m. Dr. Bruce Rodgers is director of the vocal group which is made up of students from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Wash. Six selections of church mu sic from the 16th century to the present will open the concert. These will include pieces by Mendelssohn, Bruckner and Randall Thomp son. Miss Sylvia Funk, mezzo soprano, will be featured in three solos, including an aria from "The Marriage of Figa ro" by Mozart, a May Day carol and a waltz-song titled, "Carmena." Music of the romantic pe riod will be represented by four folk songs by Brahms and "Adagietto' by Bizet, ar ranged by Dr. Rodgers. Irish, English and French folk music will give the pro gram a foreign flavor. Fea tured will be Miss Carol Sandford, soprano, in the Irish air, "The Meeting of the Waters," as arranged by Dr. Rodgers. Others will be, Early One Morning," "O, Dear, What Can the Matter Be?" featuring - Miss Funk and Neil Oldridge, baritone, and "Aupre's de ma Blonde." A highlight of the program will come when the Madrigal Singers step from the ranks of the concert choir to present three selections of vocal chamber music: "Nicolete," "Lo, How a Rose E'er Bloom ing" and "In These Delight ful, Pleasant Groves." The program will conclude with American folk songs which are all-time favorites: "Poor Lonesome Cowboy," "Skip-to-m'Lou," "The Streets of Laredo" and "Nelly Bly." Women's News Social Washington Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower, with a new hair do and a "new figure," as she pointed out, posed for pictures on the south lawn of the White House March 28. Both hair style and figure were acquired at the Maine Chance Farm beauty and health resort in Phoenix, Ariz., which she and several cabinet wives visited recently. (UPI Telephoto) Election Planned In Eagle Point; Discussion Set Eagle Point Eagle Point High School Parent-Teacher-Student association will elect officers at a meeting set for Wednesday, March 30, in the high school library. The nominating committee will submit the names of Mrs. Donald DeHaven for presi dent; Kenneth Vannice, teach er vice president; Mrs. John H. (Jerry) Johnson, vice presi dent; Mrs. Clinton Ayres, sec retary; Wallace West, student, treasurer; and Miss Janne Calloway, student, historian. Members may make further nominations from the floor provided the consent of the nominee has been obtained. Delegates will be elected for the annual convention of the Oregon Congress of Par ents and Teachers to be held in Medford April 26-28. Clarence Davies, teacher at Eagle Point High school, will again act as moderator for a panel discussion between par ent, teachers, and students on subjects submitted by persons in attendance at the meeting. A question box will be pro vided in the library for this purpose. A similar program proved so successful at , the January meeting of the as sociation that the program chairmen, Mrs. Donald De Haven and Mrs. Stewart Hop per, were requested to repeat it at this meeting. The mem bers of the panel and the sub jects to be discussed will be different than last time. A special invitation is ex tended to parents of students in the eighth grades of the Eagle Point, Shady Cove, and Elk-Trail schools to "attend this meeting and become acquainted with the high school PTSA. Mothers of sophomore stu dents will serve refreshments. About 20 relatives and friends called during the afternoon. Among the guests were several of her friends Mrs. Robinson calls her "adopted families." These in clude youngsters and adults, all call her "Mom." Mrs. Rob inson says her hobby is al ways being friendly. She considers Mr. and Mrs. Everett Jennings her - latest "adopted family" because of their kindness to her while rhe has been convalescing from a recent serious illness which has kept her indoors. She enjoys having company, it is said. . Highlight of the day was a surprise telephone call from a daughter, Mrs. Leo Wathen, who resides in Ordway, Colo. Another daughter, Mrs. Jewel Routh, and a son, Thomas Robinson Jr., reside in Gold Hill. She has six grandchil dren and three great-grandchildren. - Mrs. Robinson was born at Walker, Mo., , in 1880, and grew up in a little farming community. She attended school in a small old fash ioned building called "Lib erty." Following her marriage, the honored woman lived for several years in Colorado and California, prior to coming to Gold Hill nearly thirty years ago. Since that time she has resided on Fourth avenue at the family home. ' sons attending are requested to bring, buy, or both. A "friendly venture" party for a group of young women of the Phoenix-Talent area interested in forming a new chapter will be held tonight at the home of Mrs. Floyd Eastwood, 940 Shafer lane, under the sponsorship of Al pha Beta chapter. One of the young women will be pre sented a life membership in the sorority, the award being based on the qualification of the young women as present ed by their nominators. . A model meeting for the Phoenix-Talent group will be held April 5 at the home of Miss Jean Cardona, 224 Sagi naw drive. A party for all members of Beta Sigma Phi sorority eligible for the exemplar de gree will be given Thursday, March 31, at Girls Commu nity club by the Beta Sigma Phi City council. Entertainment will be fur nished by - each of the five chapters in the area, with Xi Mu, the active exemplar chap ter in Medford, serving as hostess group.
