Annual Easter Observance Set Seven southern Oregon bethels of Job's Daughters and three chapters of the Order of De Molay will observe Easter with the Knights Templar of the valley Sunday afternoon, April 3, at 2 pjn. in the Med ford Masonic temple. : Members of bethels of Med ford, Ashland, Central Point, Grants Pass, Kerby and Shady Cove and De Molay members from Ashland, Central Point and Medford will take part. The annual observance also i3 open to all others who wish to attend. One hundred and eight young people and Knights in robes will form a cross and a 40-girl choir will sing. . Two local ministers will speak and a number of mu sical numbers will be presented. "PIC" i J j T. l Gilchrist Club Honors Former Medford Woman A former Medford woman, Mrs. David Fredrickson, was recently named "Woman of the Year" by the Gilchrist Quota club. Announcement of her selection was made at a dinner held recently by the women's club. Mrs. Fredrickson, who has resided in the isolated com munity for seven years, was credited with volunteer serv ices to health and welfare committees of the Parent Teacher association, to im munization clinics and other related projects. She is a reg istered nurse and has been called . on for help in local emergencies. The former Medford resi dent also publishes and dis tributes a small community newspaper, which is mimeo graphed with the help of her family. Mr. Fredrickson is a state policeman. Guest speaker at the din ner honoring the "Woman of the Year" was Dr. Leonard Mayfield, superintendent of Medford Public schools. His topic was "A Visit Behind the Iron Curtain." Blickenstaff, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale M. Blickenstaff, 21 South Orange street, and Wayne H. Breeze, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Breeze, 921 Murray street. The ceremony was held at First Methodist church at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with Dr. George G. Roseberry offi ciating. More than 325 rela tives and guests attended the double ring rites. Mr. Blick enstaff gave his daughter in marriage. Spring flowers with yellow and green accents decorated the church. Mrs. C. R. Adam son played the organ wedding music and Miss Coleen Barr was soloist. ; The bride wore a floor length white slipper satin gown fashioned with fitted bodice and full skirt. A float ing panel in front was accent ed at the hemline by a large bow. Her fingertip length veil was held by a pearl and lace headdress and she carried a cascade bouquet of white gar denias. She was escorted to the altar by her uncle, Virgil Blickenstaff, Blue Lake, Calif. Miss Caron Leffler . was maid of honor and brides maids were Miss' Nancy Breeze, sister of the bride groom, Miss Barbara Mar shall, Miss Dewanda Winchell and Miss Coleen Barr. Little Karen Wonderly served as flower girl. Miss Leffler and the flower girl wore jade green frocks with white lace jackets. The bridesmaids' dresses were yel low with white lace jackets. They carried nosegay bou quets. Reginald Breeze served as best man for his brother. Ush ers were Robert Paine, Ft. Jones, Calif., Robert Glover, Richard Glover, Richard Clark, and Charles Robertson. Paul McMahan was ring bearer. For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed Mrs. Blickenstaff chose a blue faille dress with white acces sories. Mrs. Breeze wore a black sheath dress with pink accessories. Their corsages were white roses. Mrs. Joe H. Gregory and Mrs. Merlyn Harvey cut and served the wedding cake at the reception held at the church. Mrs. Virgil Blicken staff, Blue Lake, Calif., and Mrs. Wayne Davison, Klam ath Falls, aunts of the bride, poured coffee, and Mrs. Alex ander Diepenbrock and Mrs. Harold Koehler, presided at the punch bowls. Miss Karen Paschke and Mrs. Errol Tresh am were at the gift tables and Mrs. Richard McLaughlin was in charge of the guest book. Following the reception the newlyweds traveled to San Francisco on their wedding trip. The bride wore a brown print suit dress with beige jacket and brown and beige accessories for traveling. They are making their home at 1222 West Main street, apartment 1, Medford. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and is a student at Medford Beauty school. Mr. Breeze attended Medford, High school and is a junior at Southern Oregon college. Among the out of town guests attending the wedding were relatives of the bride. They included Mrs. "Clara Kerr and Mrs. Maud Ball, Eu gene, great aunts; Wayne Davison, Klamath Falls, uncle; and Gary Blickenstaff, . Blue Lake, Calif., cousin. Others included Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Hoppas and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Logan Plotts, Calvin Burns, all Eu gene, and Mrs. Kathrine Hoe gel, Portland. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored at a num ber of events. They included those given by Mrs. Kenneth Wonderly, 734 Palm street and Mrs. Harold Koehler, 3543 Table Rock road, Central Point; and Miss Caron Leffler, 101 Chestnut street. Guild to Hold Guest Night A guest night meeting is planned by St. Catherine's guild of St. Mark's Episcopal church Monday, March 28, at 8 p.m. in the parish house. Mrs. Ralph Mathews and Mrs. Robert Wilcox are in charge of arrangements for the evening. Friends, interest ed persons and inactive mem bers are invited to attend. . A social evening is planned and the Rev. George R. V. Bolster will give a brief talk on the implications of the Lenten season. Mrs. Robert Dames will speak on the activities of the church which might be of special interest to the women attending, such as the Junior Church school and St. Mark's Altar guild. Co-hostesses for the even are Mrs. Mark Taylor, Mrs. Frank Wilson, Mrs. William Herman and Mrs. Tom Bolton. 1 , - State Director To Visit Group Mrs. Clara B. G e r t s o n, Heppner, national committee woman and state director for the Degree of Honor Protec tive association will be an honored guest of the local lodge Monday at 8 p.m. at Girls Community club. Members of the Ashland and Grants Pass lodges and friends of the Medford group will be guests. Mrs. Arthur Webster is hostess chairman. ' Week End Guests In Gold Hill Gold Hill-Mr. and Mrs. Ted Taylor and family, Elkton, Ore., were guests of his neph ew, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tay lor,' last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne H. (Landis photos) Couple Returns From Tour of South America Ending a six weeks' tour of South and Central American countries and Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil House returned to their home at 2 White Oak drive last week. Mr. and Mrs. House were in Rio de Janeiro at the time of President Eisen hower's visit there, and saw the President as he was es corted through the city's streets and welcomed. . The Houses enjoyed being i in Rio de Janeiro at the time of the annual fall carnival which was in progress during their stay. They also visited in Port Legra in Brazil be fore continuing to Buenos Aires in Argentina. . The travelers also spent some time at the famous va cation spot of Bariloche in Ar gentina and were registered at the Chow Chow hotel where the President had stay ed. A series of lakes mark the countryside in this part of Ar gentina and Mr. and Mrs. House traveled across three lakes by boat and launch to reach Puerto Varas, Chile. The trip from Puerto Varas to Santiago was by train, the travelers spent some time in Lima, and also made stops in Colombia and Ecuador. They traveled to Mexico City by way of Costa Rico, and also visited the popular Mexican resort of Acapulco. Mr. House, who is associ ated with a group of Medford and Eugene men in a timber buying venture, purchased a tract of Parana pine while in South America. The Parana pine is similar to the ponder- osa pine of Oregon, but pro duces a higher grade lumber, it is said. Herbert Robbins of Eugene accompanied Mr. and Mrs. House to Brazil and Ar gentina. Visitor Here Mrs. Robert Antz has re turned to her home in Palo Alto, Calif., after a visit here with Mrs. Lewis Ulrich, 839 Minnesota avenue, and with friends in Ashland. Mrs. Antz, the former Lael Klum, lived in Medford in former years. Sister Arrives From Illinois Mrs. A. W. Schramm, Pe kin, 111., arrived in Medford March 18 to visit her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. . Wallace Haskins, 228 North Holly street. Mrs. Schramm has visited in Medford in prior years. A Miss Jackson County will represent this area at the Miss Oregon Pageant to be held in Seaside on July 29, 30, and 31, it was announced today by Harry Wright, presi dent of the Ashland Jaycees which will stage the contest at Ashland in May. Mr. Wright said the Jaycees had been invited to select a Jackson county beauty to compete in the contest staged at Seaside, Ore. Plans for a Miss Jackson County Pageant to be held in Ashland were begun last Thursday evening. Thew inner of the Miss Ore gon Pageant, in addition to a $1,000 scholarship, will win the right to represent Oregon in the Miss America Pageant at Atlantic City in September.
