Ladd. In case planting cannot be undertaken for some reason until later in the month, the state maintains refrigeration facilities at the nursery and trees can be held in a dor mant condition. However, they must be removed prior to May 1, Ladd added. The forester indicated that trees available include Doug las fir, ponderosa pine, Scotch pine, Monterey pine, incense cedar and Chinese arboritae in the evergreens. Hardwoods include black locust, Russian olive, Russian mulberry, Chi nese elm and cascara. Public Warned of CensusPretenders A warning to the public against persons posing as cen sus takers has been issued to day by Don McNeil, manager of the Medford Chamber of Commerce. Census enumerators April 1 will start ringing door bells in the task of counting the nation's population. "A scat tering of opportunists invari ably take advantage of this operation to pose as census takers in order to get into homes for sales purposes, he said. McNeal cautioned the pub lic to be on guard against such pretenders. "An individ ual who falsely represents himself as an enumerator in the 1960 census of population and housing is taking a chance which might result in a $1,000 fine and three years prison," according to McNeil. They will be prosecuted under federal law. The census , bureau advises householders to request per sons representing themselves to be census enumerators to show their credentials. The 1960 census takers will wear a red and blue badge bearing the official seal of the U.S. department of commerce, and carry a portfolio bearing the legend "1960 census of the United States."
