Charlie Dressen feels a lot

In fact, the 61-year-old man

could have danced an Irish jig
after the roles played by
Spahn and Schoendienst in
Wednesday's 4-2 victory over
the American League cham

Spahn, 38, pitched five shut

White Sox only three hits in
his first competitive appear

since stricken by tuberculosis
after the 1958 season, played
errorless ball at second base
and drove in a run with a

The St. Louis Hawks drew

Before the playoffs began,

Sharman was Boston's high

St. Louis, recalling last

the playoffs lost little time in

The Hawks, with playmak-1

The first no-hitter of 1960

Daniels, who was 7-9 with
a 5.44 earned run average
with Pittsburgh last season,
struck out four and allowed
only one batter to reach base

also fanned four and retired

One veteran twirler is on

Bill Anhorn, two-year letter

mound work. 'John did some
Legion tossing last summer.
Other lettermen are Jerry

year man; Ed Allen, catcher;
Ron Hale, third base and Gary
Johnson, outfield.

Hockey Win
By United Press International
The Boston Brums, first
National Hockey League team
to beat Olympic goalie Jack
McCartan, remained hopeful
today of gaining a spot in the
Stanley Cup playoffs.
Third-period goals by Bron
co Horvath and Dick Meiss
ner carried the Bruins to a
3-2 triumph over McCartan
and the New York Rangers in
Wednesday night's only NHL
action.
It was the first defeat suf
fered by the Rangers since
McCartan moved into their
net after leading the U.S.
team to victory in the Winter
Olympics.
But more important to the
Bruins, it moved them to
within two points of the
fourth - place Detroit Red
Wings in their skirmish for
the final berth in the Stanley
Cup playoffs. Both teams now
have only two regular season
games remaining.
New York -(DPD- All-Ameri

Utah have been named to the
East and West All-Star bas
ketball squads that meet in
Madison Square Garden,
March 26. Stith, a 6-5 junior,
averaged 32 points per game
during the regular season.
