The Dalles Project Favored by Board Salem - (DPD - The Oregon Resources Board has gone on record favoring The Dalles federal irrigation project. The board Saturday recom mended a plan calling for use of Columbia river water to ir rigate about 5,400 acres of land, mostly cherry orchards, in The Dalles area, which has been designated a "critical" water area by the state. At present only ground wa ter supplies the area for irri gation purposes. The board recommended the federal plan with the suggestion that it be tied to a specific project, such as The Dalles dam.
