Mr. Stevens gave his daugh
ter in marriage. The bride
wore a ballerina length gown
of Chantilly lace over white
slipper satin. Her shoulder
; length veil was held by two
circlets of lace petals edged
t with pearls and she carried
fa bouquet of three white or
chids encircled. by pink and
- white carnations.

punch bowl. Mrs. Charles A.

Webb Jr., aunts of the bride,
were in charge of the gift and
guest books.
After a wedding trip the
bride and bridegroom will be
at home at 241 Snowy Butte
road, Central Point. For trav
eling the-bride chose a black
wool suit with bone colored
accessories.
The bride attended Jackson
ville and M ed f o r d High
schools and the bridegroom is
a graduate of Crater High
school.
Through her mother's fam
ily, the bride is a descendant
of Virginia Wiley, early-day
heroine known in the Virgin
ia and Kentucky territory. Her
father's family were early
Jackson county settlers, and
she is a granddaughter of Al
bert Stevens, for whom Stev
ens street is named, and a
grandniece of George Stevens.
Among, the out of -town
guests attending the wedding
were M. B. Webb, grandfather
of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs.
M. B. Webb Jr., aunt and uncle
of the bride, all of Yreka,
Calif.
A buffet dinner was given
by the bride's parents follow
ing the wedding rehearsal.

annual week of prayer.
Circles 1 and 2 will com
bine and their meetings will
be held at the homes of Mrs.
Margaret Covey and Mrs.
James Funston Monday and
Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. On
Wednesday and Thursday the
circles will meet with Mrs.
Violet Williams and Mrs. Avis
Hobbs at 10 a.m. Mrs. Covey
and Mrs. Williams will have
charge of the program.
Circle 3 will meet at the
homes of Mrs. Juanita Klus
man Monday and Wednesday
and with Mrs. Betty Holm
strom Tuesday and Thursday
at 10 a.m. Mrs. Tilda Snyder
and Mrs. Frances - Gilchrist
will be in charge. .
The series of meetings will
be terminated with a potluck
dinner at the church Friday

will open Tuesday, March 8,
at the group's Fairgrounds
theater, are being held this
week end. Thayer Tarvin is
directing the production,
which will continue through

Labrador Slides
Planned Monday
At Senior Center

will be shown by Ralph Weiss
Monday at 1 p.m. at the Sen
ior Activity Center, 601 East
Jackson street, according to
Dr. Frank Roberts, leader of
the Arm Chair Travel group.
Edward Root, music direc
tor, will be at the center Mon
day at 11 a.m. to meet with
the new class of beginners
who wish to learn to play an
instrument or to practice on
an instrument they formerly
played.
Last week, Mr. Root was
unable to be at the center for
this class for w h ic h there
have been several 'registra
tions, but he will conduct this
training every Monday morn
ing in the future.
" A total of 186 men and
women, used the facilities of
the center during February,
according to the guest book
kept by the hostesses for each
day. This month the commit
tee hopes to offer classes in
copper tooling, cake decorat
ing and dramatics, in addi
tion to the oil painting, wood
carving, Spanish and orches
tra classes now meeting each
week.

. One of the leading roles in
the play is taken by Frank
Buchter, well known for his
many outstanding perform
ances in Footlighter plays. In
addition, Mr. Butchter is a
capable director, is business
manager for the group and if
need be, paints scenery or
sells tickets.
Also playing a leading role
is Mrs. Charles -Tarvin, wife
of the director. Mrs. Tarvin,
who plays Rosemary Sydney,
the role, created by Rosalind
Russell in the move, has. also
apeared in many Footlighter
plays including "The Solid
Gold Cadillac" and "On the
Bridge at ."Midnight." Mrs.
Tarvin, employed ;at the pub
lic library in Medford, has
been with Footlighters since
1949. ..
In "Picnic" the role of Rose
mary Sydney is that of a spin
ister school teacher and one
of her scenes, in which the
teacher innocently becomes
tipsy, is said to be hilarious.
Mrs. .Audrey (Aluin) Reiss
is cast as Christine Schoen
walder, another school teach
er. Mrs. Reiss will be remem
bered for her appearance in
"On the Bridge at Midnight"
and other Footlighter players.
Mr. and Mrs. Reiss came here
from Eugene; Mr., Reiss is
with Union Pacific and Mrs.
Reiss is a dental assistant.
An Ashland resident, Mrs.
Virginia (Joseph) Murphy,
plays the role, of Irma Kron-
kite, another teacher. Mrs.
Murphy has been in the cast
of two Footlighter plays. The
Murphys came here from De
troit, and Mr. Murphy is a
student at Southern Oregon
college. Mrs. Murphy is em
ployed by Cascade Wood com
pany. , ,

Success" shoud be composed
of not more than 500 words;
A committee will judge

received. Groups of young
