Oliver, 20, Med--ford, pleaded innocent Tues day to charges of making a ! false statement in writing. He ;is charged with issuing a bad check for $26 to Dave Fray- sher, Medford, on Sept. 28. Trial is set for March 24, at ; 9:30 a jn. He is being held in lieu of $250 bail. Donald Lee Addington, Cen tral Point, pleaded innocent -to charges of petty larceny. - He is charged with taking two 'cartons of cigarettes and a package of candy at the Big "Y market on Feb. 26. His -trial has been set for March 17. Two Arrested by Military Authorities Ashland - (DPD - Two Army privates AWOL from Ft. Lewis, "Wash, were arrested here Wednesday morning af ter city police had seen them driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Held at city jail are John L. Hina, 19, of Sacramento, and Dwayne L. Melgren, 18, of El Segundo, Calif. Military authorities have been noti fied, police said. , ' Eagle Point Youths Charged by Deputies Raymond Wayne 'Couser, 18, of Eagle Point, is being held in the county jail on charges of having stolen goods in his possession, sheriffs - deputies reported. A 17-year-old Eagle Point ' youth, also involved, was re leased to the custody of his parents Tuesday. Box 168, Old Chelsea 4-H Club News Westsid Knillen Kitten A regular meeting of the Central Point Westside Knit ten Kittens club was held Feb. 20 at the Frink home. It was conducted by vice president Judy Frink. The flag salutes were led by Cheryl Hammel and the roll call was answered by the name of a country each girl would like to visit. The secre tary read the 4-H charter and a letter from the Central Point Grange thanking us for the dish towels given them. A potluck dinner was plan ned for April 23. A discus sion was held in regard to a display in the Central Point Drug store for 4-H Week. Each girl was asked to col lect lids for the Rogue Valley hospital as a community proj ect. Margaret Nelmes, Reporter. 28 Stitchers Ruch - A meeting of the newly-organized 4-H Sewing club was held Monday, Feb. 22, in the basement of the Ruch Community church. The name "28 Stitchers a Mile" was decided on by the members as the official club name. During the meeting, the members learned how to straighten material, and learn ed about the parts of a sewing machine. Of each dollar consumers paid for beef in 1959, farmers got 62 cents compared with 63 cents in 1958. Refreshments were served by Rosemary Goodnight. Edie Mike Reinking, Reporter. Frutkin, direc tor of NASA's office of inter national programs, told mem bers of the Inter-American Defense Board here that NASA "hopes" to complete this unusual multi-lateral pro gram for studying the upper atmosphere. The rocket to be purchased is the Skylark, a solid propel lant, unguided, and capable of carrying a payload of about 65 pounds.
