Snow on the ground and bright winter weather proved irresistible last week end to ski enthu siasms and other winter sports fans in southern Oregon and northern California. Wally Iver son, Medford, an avid skier, was one of the hundreds who went to the Mt. Shasta ski bowl and he is shown here making a schuss down a gentle slope in the vicinity of the lodge. The snow, about eight feet deep at the bowl now, was near perfect for skiing last week end and the bright sun made for "shirtsleeve" weather during the afternoon. With the magnificent slopes of Mt. Shasta Ski Bowl in the distance. Miss Marilyn Jo Conner and John Caster, Medford, prepare to try their skill on skis. A corner of the lodge can be seen above, as well as part of the 6,055 foot chair lift that takes skiers to the 9,332 foot level, some 1,400 vertical feet above the lodge. About 2,800 persons made use of the facilities there last Saturday, and 3,100 Sunday, which was an all-time record, according to Manager Joe Futch. vV V ill I 2fli Whoops! A popular spot at Mt. Shasta lodge Is the sun deck that overlooks a vast scenic panorama to the south. Although flowers are in bloom in the valleys, snow remains deep on the mountains and the best part of the skiing season it still ahead. Shasta Ski bowl called for a bit of patience because of the unprecedented number of skiers present. Gene Winters, Medford, is shown in the picture above as he be came next in line for a chair. Mr. Winters and George Jess Jr., Eagle Point (inset above) are shown as the chair picks them up en the fly. At a special area a mile or so below Mt.' Shasta Ski Bowl there is a place to ride toboggans and sleds and for just "playing" in the snow.. Miss Sara Hinkle, a member of the party of young people from the First Christian church, ......
