8 MAIL TRIBUNI, Medford-, Or. T A Thursday, Feb. 25, 1960 Public Invited to Hearing About Pension Change The public is invited to hear a discussion of the new federal pension law for vet erans, their widows and chil dren at a meeting in ILe Vet erans of Foreign War hall, 42 North Front st., Medford, at 7 o'clock tonight. S. T. Brannock, contact rep resentative, VA Domiciliary, Camp White, will describe the new law in detail and answer questions submitted from the audience. . The new act. Public Law 86-211, will award pension to veterans, widows and chil dren on the basis of - need, Brannock said. Payments will be on a graduated scale, de pending on individual outside incomes. A person already in receipt of pension June 30, 1960, will be given his or her choice as to whether pension is to be based on the present law or the new one. Pension entitlement arising after June 30 can be based only on the new act. All those presently on the pension rolls will receive a new income questionnaire with their March check which is to be signed and returned to the Portland VA office if the reciDient wishes to re ceive benefits under the new law, which becomes effective July 1, 1960. Brannock will clarify the distinction between the two laws to enable persons re ceiving pension to make the right choice. Once the new act has been selected, an in dividual can never return to the benefits of the old one, and a mistake in judgment could result in substantially smaller pension payments for the future. The legislation does not af fect compensation paid to vet erans or dependents for serv ice connected disability or death. V V 3-?- per as. BUILDING CLUB ACT Beverly Aadland is a study in perpetual motion as she is in terviewed by UPI's Vernon Scott. The 17-year-old former girl friend of the late Errol Flynn says she is building a night club act "around my little girl qualities." (UPI Telephoto) Late Errol Flynn's Girl Friend To Seek New Reputation in Night Clubs By VERNON SCOTT Hollywood - (UPD - Beverly Aadland, who hitch-hiked a ride to notoriety aboard the Errol Flynn merry-go-round, is building a night club act "around my little girl quali ties." Blonde Beverly, h&w ad mits to 17 years of age, says she wants to change public opinion of her reputation. But by playing a little girl in a night club? "Sure," the animated cutie said. "I'll sing a few songs, dance and pat the bald little COMMUNISM DECLINES Tempe, Ariz. -(UPD- Former British Prime Minister Clem ent Attlee Wednesday night had encouraging words about the success of the fight against communism. A 1 1 e e told a gathering at Arizona State University that commu nism is growing weaker in Europe, suffering defeats in India and Burma, not getting anywhere in this country and never did get anywhere in Great Britain. men sitting at the front tables. "I'm still just a girl - ask the juvenile detectives who visited me to see if I was a delinquent. They asked me if I smoked or drank. They're nuts! I was sitting there with a cigarette in one hand and a can of beer in the other." Mother Nods Approval Beverly looked to her moth er, Florence, for approval -which she received in the form of a maternal nod. They share a small apartment near Hollywood blvd. "It's not too late for me to rebuild my reputation," Bev erly went on. "I've already started to wear funny little girl dresses like the one I've got on now. "I have to make a living in show business-it's all I know. I'm a screwball anyhow, and that never hurt anybody in this business. I'm building my future on a little girl's face and a woman's body." Mrs. Aadland smiled hap pily. "She has been going out with George Jessel lately. He's a very nice man," the mother put in. "He can do a lot to help Beverly's career." Wears No Makeup This was vouchsafed by a pair of framed 'pictures on Beverly's desk. One bore a picture of Flynn, facing it was another of Jessel, who is a constant source of material for comedians kidding him about his dates with girls i young enough to be his grand daughters. Beverly attempts to height en the sweet-young-thing ap pearance by wearing no make up. Her straight hair and bangs have given way to a pony tail. "Wholesome and sweet is what I'm going to be from now on," she concluded. "But no matter how hard I try, or what kind of dresses I wear I always manage to look sexy. I guess I just can't help it." Mrs. Aadland, a proud look in her eye, added approving ly, "Beverly is quite old for her age."
