These severely as thmatic children always have some deformity of the chest; some have emphysema (in which the little lune cells are dilated or ruptured one into the other); some are nigniy allergic; some are neurotic; and most are undersized and underweight. It is a remarkable and sig nificant fact that, often, the day the child arrives in the hospital, he stops wheezing. There can be several reasons for this, but often the mam one is that the child came from a home in which the Darents had become so anxi ous and nervous and fussy over their sick child that their anxiety reacted back onto him. Perhaps they upset him badly by keeping nim aiways under a microscope. As one would expect, in some of these cases, after six months of good health in the hospital, when the mother comes to visit the child or to take him home, he starts wheezing again, with a flare up of his asthma. And yet, the experts in this hospital feel that asthma is not pri marily a Dsychic disease; it is only made worse by mental strain. Primarily there is an inherited predisposition to spasm in the tubes that lead into the lungs. Usually, also, there is an inherited hyper senstiveness to dusts and pol lens and molds of various kinds. Many children get a Grange News E.agle Point Mrs. Eula Havener and Mrs. Herbert Perdue were ob ligated in the third and fourth degrees of the Grange at a recent meeting of the Eagle Point Grange. Wilford Davis reported on the meeting of the Rogue Basin Flood Control and Wa ter Resurces association which he attended in Grants Pass Feb. -8 as a representative of the Grange. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Steve Wilson, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester McFall. A variety program was present ed under the direction of Mrs. Delton Stephenson. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March I, and will start at 7 pjn. with a potluck supper. It will honor Mr. and and Mrs. Frank Chamberlain and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. "Now that the shortages of late 1959 have been corrected, consumers axe showing no eagerness to buy, nor busi nessmen to stock goods." Value Line believes a more modest rate of increase, gov erned by the "consumption economy, thus seems in store for business this year." Even in the important area of cap ital spending, it adds, there appears to be no rise of boom proportions under way. "To some extent, this cau tion may be traced to the steep stock market decline of the past month, and its effect on businessmen's confidence -which, after all, is the con trolling factor determining the pace of the economy Walter G.
