    Funds from 1960 Kapers Will
Be Used in Kiwanis' Clinic
Thanks to a Medford Ki
wanis club-sponsored project
and the club's major 1959
fund-raising activity, 5 5 0
youngsters of Jackson county
have received dental care al
though their families could
not afford to pay.
The project is the county
wide dental clinic in which
dentists of the area cooper
ate. Means of revenue to sup
port the clinic is the annual
Kiwanis Kapers.
Proceeds from the 1959 va
riety show were to a large ex
tent utilized for the clinic.
Dental care made possible in
cluded 1,800 fillings, 510 ex
tractions, five sets of dentures
and seven partial plates. Do
nated services provided by the
dentists have been valued at
between $20,000 and $25,000.
Share of Kaperi Funds
A big share of funds from
the 1960 Kapers presentation
will go toward perpetuation
of this clinic. Kiwanians are
now in the midst of prepara
tions for their newest show
of songs, jokes, skits and
dances. The production,
"Around the Town," is sched
uled for Wednesday, Thurs
ay, Friday and Saturday, Feb.
24, 25, 26 and 27, at the Med
ford High school auditorium.
Other Kiwanis work for
boys and girls also will bene
fit. Some of the 1959 Kapers
proceeds, for instance, went
for eye glasses, oral surgery
and tonsillectomies for under
privileged children. Kiwan
ians, too, contributed to Boy
and Girl Scouts, the YMCA
and the Salvation Army. They
sponsor a Boy Scout troop.
The dental clinic was or
ganized two years ago with
the Kiwanis club supplying
funds. Public schools and the
county health department, as
well as dentists, cooperate.
Forty-three dentists each do
nate six half-days per year

Reyived Service
Kiwanians with the project
revived a service which the
health department was forced
to halt during World War II.
In the years after the war, the
club began to provide finan
