Other congressional news:
Movies; Gordon S. White,
director of Hollywood's self
imposed advertising .code,
said that with a few excep
tions movie ads were within
"reasonable bounds of decen
cy and morality." He made
the statement in testimony
prepared for a House Post
Office subcommittee investi
gating whether Hollywood's
self-policing program should
be tougher. The subcommittee
has received complaints that
some films and movie ads are
too sexy.
Communists: Benjamin J.

was under subpoena to appear
for questioning by the Senate
Internal Security subcommit

the House Committee on Un-

able wife.

Says Finch 'Dazed'
Ruled out of evidence was
her subsequent admission that
she carried a "murder kit" up
the driveway to the Finch
home. Ignored was the testi
mony of convict John Patrick
Cody that the doctor and Car
ole hired him for $1,400 to
kill Mrs. Finch.
But Carole did offer an ex
planation for Finch. She said
they had gone to the home
unarmed. Mrs. Finch drew a
gun and pointed it at Carole,
she said. Finch "jumped" for
ward to disarm his wife. Car
ole fled and saw no more
though she heard Finch say
ing "please" and the sound
of two gunshots.
Carole said she had become
panicky. She hid in the bushes
nearby for six hours until she
finally slipped away and fled
back to Las Vegas where she
found Finch with no memory
whatsoever of shooting his
wife.
"He was dazed," she said.
Whether the jury believes
that story depends largely on
the one that Finch tells. But
there was no question Carole
and Finch have moved a num
ber of steps away from Cali- j

Coed Arrested as
Wayward Minor in
Affair With Negro
New York - (UPD - Blonde
Dorothy Lebohner, 18, a coed
arrested as a wayward minor
for trying to elope with a
Negro basketball star, sent
her lover home today "to fin
ish your education so we can
get married."
The pretty daughter of an
official of Alfred University,
Alfred, N.Y., indicated that
her parents' opposition to her
plans to marry Warren Sut
ton, 20, had not changed her
mind.
"I want to marry Warren
as soon as possible," she told
police after she was found
holding hands with .Sutton in
a movie theater Tuesday
night. "I intended to get mar
ried when I came down here."
To Finish Education
Dorothy embraced the 6-
foot 4-inch athlete from Ches
ter, Pa., shortly before she
was taken) into custody this
morning by Alfred Police
Chief Walter Rounds, and told
him:
"Listen, honey, I want you
to go home and finish your
education so we can get mar
ried. I'm going to finish
mine, and then I'll see you."
Dorothy's arrest by Rounds
at an East Side precinct sta
tion was the latest move made
by Mr. and Mrs. Edward K.
Lebohner to break up their
daughter s romance of more
than a year with Sutton. They
had her adjudged a wayward
minor once previously in or
der to foil an elopement.
The girl disappeared early
Tuesday morning from a room
adjoining that of her parents
at the Hotel Biltmore. She
said she had gone along with
her mother s plans to take
her to Florida to forget Sut
ton, but had secretly made
arrangements to meet him
during a stopover in New
York.

parental custody if they are
wilfully disobedient to the
lawful commands of their
parents and are "morally de

Lebohner, treasurer of Al

his wife were sick about the
romance because "mixed mar
riages have an almost impos

"Young people have been
taught that this is one world,
and the idea has caught on,"
he commented. "Many of Dor
othy's young friends simply
can't understand our opposi

her romance with Sutton but
had been unsuccessful in
keeping them apart. Dorothy
told them she was with Sut

Appeal Made for
March of Dimes
Card Returns
Householders in Jackson
county who have not yet
mailed their March of Dimes
contribution cards have been
asked to do so. Clarence
Gossage, ' county campaign
chairman, today appealed for
return of the cards.
Gossage said that although
the fund drive has officially
ended contributions are still
needed to carry on the fight
against polio, birth defects
and arthritis.
Contributions may
be mailed to March of Dimes,
United States National Bank,
Medford.
Frank Morris, Medford
campaign director, praised
mothers of the area for their
work on the Mother's . March
on Jan. 28 when more than
$4,000 was collected in the
Medford area.
Wants Correspondence)
Morris said the Mothers
March was not without its
heart-touching incident. He
showed a note which was left
on the door of a house at
which no one was home when
the block mother called. It
read:
Dear Mrs. Marcher:
I tried real hard to get
money for the children that
gel birth defects, arthritis
. and polio. But I didn't do
well did I? We only got
our card and envelope a
few days ago.
During that lime every
body in my family conirib

very far. Tell the poor
children that have polio or
birth defects that I would
like them to write to me.
My address is 2179 Crater
Lake ave., Medford, Ore.
My mother's sister died
from polio a few years ago
and so we all feel deeply
about giving.
Thank you.
