On Sunday Gloria came to his hotel red-eyed from weep ing only to find out he had fled to see his sister in Croy don, outside London. Gloria got his phone num ber from the hotel and called him at his sister's house. That night George Marcel Bycroft thought the coast was clear and returned to the ho tel. There was she, sleeping in his bed. He had her evicted. She came back. For the fourth time Bycroft resorted to court action. The court listened to his lamenta tions and sentenced Gloria to four months in jail. But Bycroft's troubles are not over. The sentence was in absentia-Gloria was nowhere to be found. PLENTY OF FREE PARKING SP 3-6661 Japan Says Reds Hold Contempt Tokyo -UPD- Japan today formally accused Russia of "unjustified interference" in her internal affairs and charged the Sovit Union with holding an "attitude of con tempt for in ternational pledges." The charges came in a for mal statement issued tonight by the foreign ministry in re sponse to a Soviet note Wed nesday warning Japan that Russia would not return to ' Japan the northern islands of Habomai and Shikotan unless Japan abrogates the new U.S. Japan security treaty. The foreign ministry state ment, following a decision by the government to reject the Russian note as an "intimida tion" on the part of the So viets, accused the Russians of acting in "complete contra vention to international faith." The Russians agreed two years ago to return the is lands, north of Hokaido in the Kuriles, as soon as a peace treaty is signed with Japan. "To break former Dledzes on the ground that Japan's policies do not conform to Soviet wishes constitutes a grave question and reveals the Soviet attitude of con tempt for international pledges," the statement said. French Officials Lift Censorship Algiers -(UPD- French au thorities in Algeria today lifted their censorship on news of the settler uprising although defiance to the gov ernment was hardening. Officials said the censor ing of reporters' outgoing dis patches was over. At the same time telecom munications with the outside world were restored. Censorship was imposed Sunday several hours after police and insurgent French settlers clashed in a street battle in which 28 persons were killed and 136 wounded. Cottage Grove Boy Struck by Train Cottaee Grove - (UPD - RalDh McKune, 6. Cottage Grove. was reported in serious condi tion today after being struck by an east bound freight train late Wednesday. The accident occurred at the Southern Pacific depot Police said the boy and an unidentified playmate were on a platform at the depot and had been warned by workmen that a train was ap proaching. Officers said the lads dart ed across the tracks and the McKune boy was struck. His playmate was uninjured.
