Medford Teacher Is
Attending Institute
Tempe, Ariz.-Lester Hutch
inson, of Medford, is partici
pating in an "Academic Year
Institute for High School
Teachers of Science and Math
ematics" at Arizona State un
iversity, Tempe. The institute
is supported by the National
Science Foundation.
A teacher of mathematici
and general science at Mc
Loughlin Junior High school,
Hutchinson was chosen to par
ticipate on the basis of his
professional competence and
his capacity to develop as a
teacher, according to Dr. Alan
T. Wager, chairman of the
ASU department of physics
and astronomy.
The 50 participants in the
program are taking full
loads in science or mathemat
ics either for a certificate of
completion or for a master's
degree in one of the four reg
ular science graduate programs.

Nine-year-old Doug Grever
owns a kitten that was giv
ing him a hard time. It kept
getting lost. So Doug thought
up the idea of putting his
father's license plate tag-the
kind made by disabled veter-ans-on
a chain around the fe
line's neck.
It wasn't long before the
kitten disaDDeared aeain.
This time it was picked up
by the SPCA, ownership was
traced through the miniature
license tag-and Doug got his
kitten back.

ing home to celebrate his 14th
wedding anniversary,. Hard
wood Rapp got a ticket for
speeding. Rapp told the po
liceman it was his first ticket
in 13 years, the other one hav
ing been given to him, when
he was hustling to celebrate
his first wedding anniversary.
"And a funny thing," Rapp
said, looking at his summons.
"The officer who stopped me
I then was named Nelson, too."
