meeting Wednesday at the
Girls Community club.

was the subject and members
gave talks on unusual cards
they had received.

Marin, two of the newer mem
bers, to give their auto
biographies. Miss Anna Streed
presented highlights of history
and Mrs. Thomas Ball had
"The Night is Silent" for her
subject. Mrs. Elmer Ness, re
tiring president, spoke on
education using as her subject
"Your Voice."
Mrs. Roy Rolls reported on
the programs of the past year.

1, Box 88, became the bride of
Forrest K. Clark, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Clark, Kilmi
chael, Miss., in a double-ring
ceremony the afternoon of
January 10.
About 150 guests attended
the service, which was read
by Pastor A. Clark Smith at
Talent Friends church. Pink
and white chrysanthemums
and candles provided a setting
for the wedding.
The bride, given in mar
riage by her father, wore a
ballerina-length gown of lace
with a scoop neck and three
quarter length sleeves. A cas
cade of net ruffles accented
the back. A pearl crown held
her finger-tip length veil of
tulle. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white carnations
and a handkerchief which her
maternal grandmother had
carried on her wedding day.
Mrs. John Logston, maid of
honor, wore a pink brocade
gown styled with a scoop neck
and full skirt. She also car
ried white carnations.
Miss Barbara Bland, Red
ding, Calif., the bride's cous
in, lighted the candles. She
wore a dress of white brocad
ed taffeta with pink trim.
Lynne Kerns, the bride's sis
ter, who served as flower
girl, wore a dress of pink em
broidered organdy.
Dea Cox, Evans Valley, was
best man. Richard and John
Kerns, brothers of the bride,
seated guests.
Neil Pierson, was soloist.
The bride's parents gave a
reception for the young cou
ple following the wedding.
Mrs. G. A. Bland, aunt of the
bride, cut the cake. Miss La
Nora Downey was at the guest
book and Miss Sandra Dickin
son had charge of the gifts.
The bride and bridegroom
traveled to Mississipppi on
their wedding trip and will
make their home at Green
ville, Miss., where he is em
ployed by the United States
Gypsum company. For travel
ing the bride wore a navy
blue suit.

The table was decorated
with red carnations and indi

which contained candy hearts.
A candle was passed.
Miss Nelson is a daughter
of Mrs. Glen Watson, 3519
Grant road, Central Point,
and Bert Nelson, Butte Falls
Star Route, Box 2, Eagle
Point. She is a graduate of
Crater High school in Central
Point and is a senior at the
university.
Miss Nelson, who is major
ing in mathematics, is affili
ated with Sigma Kappa social
sorority.
Mr. Moursund is the son of
Dr. and Mrs. A. F. Moursund,
Eugene. He is a graduate stu
dent in mathematics at the
University of Wisconsin, Madi
son, Wise.

Play Dates
Announced
Production dates for "Pyg
malion," senior class play of
Medford High school, have
been set for February 18 and
19. -
The title of the play was
taken from a classical myth
in which Pygmalion, a king
and sculptor of Cyprus, made
an ivory statue of a beautiful
maiden which Aphrodite,
Greek goddess of love,
brought to life.
In the play, Higgins, a pro
fessor of phonetics, picks . up
a poor flower girl off the
streets of London and trans
forms her into a beautiful and
elegant young lady. ,
"Pygmalion" was first pro
duced in Berlin in 1912 and
was especially written by
Shaw for a famous English
actress, Mrs. Patrick Camp
bell. It has been presented
many times since with great
actresses such as Lynne Fon
tanne and Gertrude Lawrence
playing the leading role.
The play was made into a
movie in 1939 starring Leslie
Howard and Windy Hiller,
and has since been made into
a musical, "My Fair Lady,"
by Loerner and Lowe.

On Fortieth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Oval McClan
ahan were honored on their
40th wedding anniversary by
relatives and friends at their
home at 2304 Spring street,
Sunday, January 10
A tiered wedding anniver
sary cake, made by Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Ellis, son-in-law
and daughter of the couple,
was served with coffee and
punch.
Mr. and Mrs. McClanahan
were married January 10,
1920 by Judge Gardner, in
the Jacksonville courthouse,
and have made their home in
Jackson county since that
tune. They were married, on
the wedding anniversary of
Mrs. McClanahan's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Yocom,
early day settlers of Jackson
ville.
The couple's five daugh
ters, Mrs. Roy Heath, Mrs.
Harold Ellis, Mrs. James Mul-
hollen, Mrs. David Haggard
and Mrs. Charles Workman
were present for the occasion
and served the refreshments,
Three sons, who were un
able to attend, include Floyd
McClanahan, Sandy, Ore.;
Richard McClanahan, in the
service in Florida; and Dale
McClanahan, in the service
in Germany. A fourth son,
Lloyd, was killed in World
War II.
Also present for the occa
sion were Mr. Heath, the
Harold Ellis children, Hal,
Linda and Sherry; Mr. Mul
hollen and daughters, Cathy,

presented a quiz on conserva
tion and horticulture at a
meeting of Talent Garden
club January 6 at the home
of Mrs. C. S. Barrett. Mrs.
Phillip Hoyland was co-hostess.
Mrs. R. T. Nichol, director,
Siskiyou district, Oregon Fed
eration of Garden Clubs, and
Mrs. Lloyd Haney were
guests. Mrs. Nichol spoke
concerning the advantages of
judging garden club flower
shows. '
The next meeting of the
club is scheduled for Febru
ary 3 at the home of Miss
Bertha Hayman, with Mrs.
Ormy Goddard as co-hostess.
