pageantry and adulation of
millions of Asians for an even
more exacting assignment in
his role as champion of peace.
As he moves to Paris and a
meeting of the Western sum'
mit, peace still will be his
theme. But this time it must
be applied to the United
States' West European " Allies
whose unity is threatened as
it' probably has been at no
time since the end of World
War II,

elected president of the Med
ford Safety council Friday at
a meeting at the Rogue Val
ley Country club. He suc

dent; Greg Orr, treasurer;
Russ Jamison, secretary; and
Air Force Sgt. Buford and
Paul Bettiol, board of dir
ectors.
Installation of officers will
be held at the annual awards
banquet Friday, Jan. 29, at
6:30 p.m. at the country club.
Speaker will be Chief of Po
lice Vernon Murdoch Jr.,
Roseburg, who will report on
community cooperation fol
lowing the August explosion
and fire.

Members of the awards
committee of the council will
meet Tuesday,1 Dec. 15, at
the Elks Club dining room
to make final decisions of
recipients of safety awards
for 1959, Berry Bighim,
chairman, announced. Under
consideration will be those
individuals or firms who have
been recommended to the
committee.

are Saved-A-Life, industrial
safety, traffic safety, and dis

gates together within three
weeks to name a permanent

the 11-nation Eisenhower tour

and wind up finally in Paris.
