Christmas Programs Scheduled In Medford Elementary Schools Christmas programs in the 14 elementary schools in the Medford school district will be held starting Tuesday, Dec. 15, and end Wednesday, Dec. 23, school officials have an nounced. Programs at Hoover and West Side schools will start at 7:30 pjn. Tuesday, Dec. 15. The Hoover program will be in two parts with the pri mary grades doing "The Story of the 'Little Fir Tree," and the upper grades appearing in "The True Christmas." It will be held in the Hoover auditorium. Primary students at West Side school will appear in songs of Christmas accented by the use of melody bells and pantomine. Upper grades will present the Christmas story in drama and song. Oak Grove Program The Oak Grove Christmas program, which will start at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 16, will be the story of the blessing of giving at Christ mas with vocal and instru mental selections. The pro gram will conclude with com munity singing of Christmas carols. Weslerburg on Beef Council in Oregon A program to promote beef ; in Oregon will be launched in ; January, according to the , Oregon Beef Council. The Oregon Beef Council - is backing the promotion campaign which was enacted by the 1959 legislature. Rich ard Westerburg, Ashland, rep : resents the dairy producers '. on the council. He was ap ; pointed by the governor on " recommendation of the beef industry. The . program itself is a four-point campaign to pub licize, educate consumers, con . duct research, and promote trade relations for beef, Ore gon's leading farm product "with an annual sales volume . of $80 million, according to ithe council. I schools will present their pro grams Monday, Dec. 21, start ing at 7:30 p.m. in the audi toriums of the schools. The second and third grades at Washington school will present "They Spell Christmas." The band and orchestra will open the pro gram which will continue with both a speaking choir and the vocal chorus. A spe cial feature will be a bell choir. Jackson School Jackson school will present "A Christmas Fantasy," a musical play featuring stu dents of the second and third grades. Instrumental groups will perform and Christmas music will be sung through out the production. A band concert will intro duce the Jacksonville school Christmas program at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22. The upper grades will present the play, ."Why the Chimes Economist Named to Head Tax Committee Salem - (LTD - State Demo cratic Chairman Robert W. Straub announced Saturday the appointment of Myron D. Katz of Portland as chairman of the Taxation committee for the State Democratic Plat form convention here Jan, 29 30. Katz, an economist, was executive secretary of ,the Senate taxation committee during the 1959 Legislature. Rang," with music by the fifth and sixth grade chorus. The Howard school pro gram will be presented start ing at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, with the first, second and third grade students present ing "A Musical Christmas Greeting." Vocal groups, rhythm band, and melody bells will add to the produc tion. The band will play music appropriate for the Christmas season. The story, "The Small One," which is set in a Mexi can location, will be present ed by the primary grades at Jefferson school Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 7:30 pan. The pro gram will be introduced by instrumental groups. Song and Scripture Lone Pine school will pre sent its program of song and scripture at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Civil Service Lists. Several Job Openings The civil service commis sion has announced job open ings for internal and contract auditors, research psycholo gists, student trainees (veter inarian), and student trainee positions as park rangers, park naturalists, park histor ians, and park archeologists. Interested persons can ob tain further information from the Medford post office or from the U. S. civil service commission, Washington 25, D.C. Dec. 22, in the school's audi torium. The program will be presented by all grades, and will include scenes of the Holy Land with" both vocal and instrumental music. Roosevelt school's primary grades will present a program of activity in Santa's work shop at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22. The program will feature students in song and illustra tion of what goes on in the workshop the night before Christmas. Vocal groups and rhythm, bands also will par ticipate. "The Christmas Light" will be presented by the second and third grades of Wilson school at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22. Instrumental and vocal groups combine in the presentation. The Parent Teacher associa tion of Ruch school will pre sent a Christmas play at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22. The program also will include all groups of the music depart ment of the school, and will conclude with the appearance of Santa Claus. Griffin Creek Program The Christmas program at Griffin Creek school will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tues day, Dec. 22, and will include KOW CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALS Station KBOY 730 K.C. an opening concert by the school band, scenes from San ta's workshop by; the primary grades, songs of Christmas by the second and third grades, and special choral numbers by the fifth and sixth grade choruses.
