Insurance Plan Approved

nounced approval of a new
lower-cost group life insur
ance program for . members
of its Western Conference lo-1
cals.
Conference President Einar
Mohn said that Occidental
Life Insurance Co. of Cali
fornia had won out over six
other bidders for the right to
carry the plan on a no service
or broker fee basis. '
Acceptance of the plan will
be voted on by locals through
out the conference. -
Mohn said that the negoti
ated rate of 52 cents per
$1,000 policy (based on 200,
000 policies) was the "lowest
ever obtained."
For Active Members
- Mohn said the plan would
be limited to active members
of the union. Another plan,
which would include coverage
of eligible retired teamsters,
was also proposed. Its cost was
quoted as 67 cents per thou
sand dollars.
An executives' health and
welfare plan, which would in
sure all employees of local
unions, ioint councils, trade
divisions and the western di
vision, was also announced.
North American Life and Cas

carrier of the executives' plan.
