WATSON Shady Cove-Trail - A suc cessful open house was held at the Shady Cove school Nov. 9 with parents visiting classrooms, inspecting dis plays by the students and dis cussing their children's prob lems with teachers. At regular meeting of the Shady Cove P.T.A. was held preceding the open house with entertainment being furnished by the Shady Cove school band under the direc tion of Gary Monical. The teachers were introduced by Principle William Shepherd. Refreshment were served, in the cafeteria by the seventh and eighth grade room mo thers. Nominations were held for secretary with the elec tion to take place at the next meeting. Wayne House of Shady Cove is ill at home. His con dition 'is improved,' according to last reports. Jay Poitevint of Trail, who is confined to the Veterans hospital at-Vancouver, Wash., is improved -and is convales cing nicely according to re ports. Mrs. Poitevint has re turned from Portland where she had been visiting a son- in-law and daughter so" she could be near he,r husband. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Trusty of Phoenix and their . son, Teddy Trusty, who is sta tioned in the Air Force at Norwalk, Va., visited Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Trusty of Elk Creek, Trail; .while Teddy was home on a furlough. The W. R. Trustys moved from Klamath Falls to Phoenix re cently. 1 . , wife Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hunt, of Shady Cove, recent ly. Mrs. Marge Greenup and children, Jerry, Sharon and Betty, have moved from their home on Mallory lane to Pen dleton where they will live with some of Mrs. Greenups relatives. ' Mr. and Mrs. Max Wop schall and children, Marsha, Maxine, Marilyn and Melvin, took a vacation trip to Ken aston, Saskatchewan, Canada, where they spent two weeks visiting Max parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wopschall. Mrs. Myrtle Eachus of Sac ramento, Calif., is visiting her son-and-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Art Levulett, of Shady Cove. While here, she attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. William Kneebone, of Ash land. Mr. and Mrs. Dave L. Davis and children, David and Kelly of Marysville, Calif, spent several days visiting Davis' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sharp, of Shady Cove. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Smith of Shady Cove are parents of a boy born Oct. 31 at Sacred Heart hospital, Medford. The baby, who weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, has been named Bart Lawrence. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hopper and patern al grandmother is Mrs. Jesse Smith. Mrs. Smith was slightly in jured in an auto accident Oct. 15, about two week's before the baby was born, and spent four days in the hospital for treatment and observation." Myklebye ;with nine members and six guests, Mrs. Bessonette, Mrs." Ham mond and Mrs. Grace Collins of the Rogue Valley Hospital auxiliary, Medford, Mrs. James Grieve, Mrs. O. 'A. Stone and Mrs. Blanche Mil lard of Prospect. Women from Medford told of the needs of the Rogue Valley hospital and what the group could do to help. The auxiliary has for a project the making of children's gowns for the hospital. Harry Opel who resided briefly in Shady Cove in 1955 has been visiting friends and acquaintances here. -: Mrs.' Grace Piele's mother, Mrs. Lillie Anderson, of To ledo, died in Toledo Wednes day, Nov. 11. Funeral ser vices were held there Thurs day. Mrs. Anderson was well known in the area having been a frequent visitor in her daughter's home.. Joe Hall, a long-time resi dent of the community, died Nov. 9 in a Medford hospital after suffering a stroke a few days before. A good deal of the surveying of property in this" area had been done by Mr. Hall and he was well versed in the early history of the area. Funeral services were held, on Tuesday at Conger-Morris. : . Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Epper son have moved from Pros pect to their trailer house on their property in Shady Cove. Epperson retired from ; his position with Copco. . Peter N ashed of ' Shadv Cove attended a teachers con vention in Salem recently Mrs. Nashed went to Black foot. -Idaho, where she -is .vis iting ner parents and was plan ning to enter the hospital there for. treatment and ob servation. . - . - Mrs, Ed Strother returned to her home in Shady Cove via Mercy Flight last Friday and is convalescing at home She- can receive visitors al though she is at present sup posed to remain in bed.
