Two Couples Wedding Ann Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Paul sen, 516 Fairmont avenue, were honored October 22 at a surprise dinner held at their home in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary. The noon event also hon ored Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Rasmussen, 308 Garfield street, who were celebrating their 29th wedding anniver sary the same day. Attending the event in ad dition to the ' two couples were Mrs. E. N. Nelson and Mrs. Lena Rasmussen, sisters of Mr. Paulsen, Mrs. Helen Paulsen, - his sister-in-lawj and Mrs. Lloyd Thornton, a niece,, all Medford. All of Celebrate iversaries o . As a boy Vernon Rasmus sen worked for Mr. Paulsen and Mrs. . Paulsen wai his Sunday school teacher. The Paulsens have made their home in Medford for the past 10 years following his retire ment from wheat farming. At the dinner two cakes were served for the two cou ples. . . ;V ' ' During the afternoon Mr. Rasmussen, who spent more than "two months in Norway and Denmark this summer, showed colored slides of those countries. During his travels Mr. - Rasmussen vis ited the town in Denmark where the Paulsen's parents formerly lived. Pictures of this area were also shown. Thespians Announce Play Cast : Craig Wright, senior at Medford High school, will play the role of Dino Falcaro in the school's production of "Dino" which will be pre sented November 12 and 13. -Other members of the cast include Dean Goddard as Mr. Sherdian; Paul Moore, Mr. Mandel; Bonnie Lowry, Shir ley; Connie Orr, Jackie; Jean Pletsch, Miss Haines; Ken Hall, Mr. Falcaro; Jim Doug las, Tony; Linda Lowry, Mrs. Falcaro. . Also Jackie Mee as Sylvia; Sarah Hinkle, Delia; Lucile Lowry, Pat; Beverly Geb hardt, Bea; Jim Pool, Danny; Joel Gregory, Steve; and Carol Slater, Mrs. Mikula. Supporting roles and under studies will be played by Bar bara Budge, Susan Ellis, Dan Bishop, Bob Rutter, Clay Varney, Careen Carter, Linda Jo Waltermire, Mark Good man, Sherril Christian, Esther Jacobs, Sandra Hutton, Sandy S a n n e r, Cecilia Fichtner, Marty Wyatt, Mike Gannon, Tom Zeitler, and Sheridan Shumate. Construction of the set started last week under the direction of Stan Zapell and will continue throughout the week. Working with him are Bob Goodwin and Jim Shaw assisted by members of the Thespians and the drama classes. Tickets for the production will go on sale Monday, Octo ber 26. sk The" Rev. and Mn. Earnest R. Bell Katherine Long Bride Of Methodist Minister Talent - Miss Katherine Marie Long, Talent, became the bride of the Rev. Earn est R. Bell, minister of Tal ent First Methodist church, in a ceremony held Septem ber 11 in Talent Dr. George G. Roseberry of Medford First Methodist church officiated at the eight o'clock evening wedding at tended by 200 relatives and friends. White and pink glad ioli decorated the church for the double-ring ceremony. At the altar was the Cross and Bible. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Ruth Granby, Talent, and Arthur Long, Stockton, Calif. Mr. Bell is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe E. Bell, Anchorage, Alaska, who came to Oregon for the wedding. The bride wore a chapel length white brocade gown styled on princess lines. Her shoulder length veil was held by white rosebuds and she carried a bouquet of white carnations and pink roses. Donald Long, Santa Maria, Calif., gave his sister in marriage. Mrs. Jack Foster served as matron of honor for her sis ter. Bell, Eugene, brother of the bridegroom, and Charles Payne, Klamath Falls, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, seated the guests. . Mrs. Charles Carmichael played the wedding music and accompanied Jerry Holdridge, soloist. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church annex. The newly-wed couple trav eled to the Oregon coast on their wedding trip. They are making their home in Talent. The bride attended Cascade college, Portland, and is a graduate of Southern Oregon college. She is employed as a teacher at Crater High school in Central Point. Mr. Bell is a graduate of Oregon State college and Boston University School of Theology. In addi tion to his pastoral duties in Talent he is director of the Wesley Foundation at South ern Oregon college. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe E. Bell, the bride groom's parents; Mrs. Edna Miltner, grandmother of the bridegroom, all Anchorage, Alaska; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thornton, Yamhill, Ore., un-. cle and aunt of the bride groom; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bell, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom; and Mrs. Donald Long, sister-in-law of the bride, all Santa Maria, Calif.; Miss Isobel Seaton, fiancee of Gordon Bell, and her mother, Mrs. J. Seaton, of Edinburg, Scotland. Two major observances are on the calendar this week for Medford chapter, .Oregon United Nations association. This afternoon at three o'clock at Girls Community club the chapter is sponsor ing a reception in celebration of United Nations day. Sat urday night children of the county and parents are being asked to cooperate in the annual- Halloween project staged to collect money for the United Nations Interna tional Children's Emergency Fund. ' The children assemble at their neighborhood school at 6:30 p.m. where they are given an official 'UNICEF badge and labeled milk car- Artists Plan November Sale The last 1959 meeting of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists will be held at the Girl's Community club, 229 North Bartlett street, Wednes day, October "28,: at 7:30 Miss Catherine Fonken will select pictures for the quar terly exhibit. . Miss . Fonken teaches art at Hedrick Junior High school. Plans will be made for the pre-Christmas sale, which will be called an "Undef $25 sale." Each member of the Society is to donate a picture, Which will be sold for under $25, with the proceeds to go to wards , a permanent .gallery space for art work . in this area. These pictures will be original paintings by loca. artists. Flyers giving in formation about the UNICEF collection are "being distrib uted to the various schools. ' The UNICEF HaUoween project, started in the east ern United States several years ago, has been gaining momentum since that time. Many believe that it is an ex cellent way in which children of this country, who have such an abundance of food, clothing and other essentials, may be taught to share their abundance , with children of other lands who have so little in comparison. Gardeners Hear Program on Bulbs A program on buibs was given by Mrs. Walter J. Mar quess at a meeting of the Lit tle Garden -club of Medford October 14 at the home of Mrs. George Sample, Apple gate. , .. Speaker- for the meeting was Oliver Erickson, one of the special education teachers of the Medford school system. Mr. Erickson talked of read ing problems, speaking especi ally of those pupils who have the "reverse reading", habit, and of remedial reading pro grams. ' ; 1 .
