Revival Meeting Set At Talent Church 8 'Talent -The Talent First Methodist church will hold a revival meeting starting Mon day, Oct. 26, at 7:30 pjn. and continuing through Nov. 1. Mrs. Donald Grimes will be in charge of the music with Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell, Med ford. in charge of congrega tional singing. GILL Back From Liberia Missionary to Visit St. Mark's Back from nine years of missionary work in the prim itive Bandi , country of Liber ia, the Rev. Raymond A. Gill of the Order of the Holy Cross, will be the speaker at St. Mark's Episcopal church at both the 9:30 and 11 am services Sunday. The Order of the Holy Cross, operating from its mission station at Bolahun in Liberia, works among three native tribes, Bandi, Kissi, and L o m a , ministering through its comprehensive program of medical, educa tional, and evangelistic work, Holy Cross is a private enter prise, recruiting its personnel and support apart from the National Council of the church. The order celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. Father Gill, who is a life professed monk of the Order, was ordained to the priest hood in 1944 after graduating from the University of Penn sylvania and the Episcopal Seminary at Nashotah House. In addition to appearing at St. Mark's Sunday morning, Father Gill will address a deanery youth rally at Myrtle Creek Sunday afternoon, re turning to Medford where he will address the convocation of the Southern Deanery of the Diocese of Oregon Mon day. ' He will leave Tuesday for California. The Southern Deanery of the Diocese of Oregon will meet Monday, Oct. 26, at St. Mark's. Holy communion will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11 ajn. business session and 12:30 pjn. luncheon. Father Gill will speak at 1:15 p.m. First Christian Lists Activities "The Church God Wants" is the title of the sermon which : the Rev. William C. Piper will preach at both serv ices at the First Christian church Sunday morning. The Gideons will take part in the 10:55 ajn. service. ' At the 8:30 am. service the youth choir will sing the an them "Walking With God." The chancel choir will sing "Eternal Praise" and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Beard will sing the duet "Willing to Take the Cross" at the second service. The coffee hour following the second service will be in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald W. Bartlett. Mr. Bartlett re cently became minister of music at the church. It will be church membership day. At the close of the 11 ajn. service a covered dish dinner will be held and the new members will be welcomed into - the fellowship of the church. There will be a brief program before the court of honor The Senior High will have their annual Halloween party for the whole church on Sat- Funds to Aid Education Work A , nation-wide campaign against alcoholism will get a financial boost Saturday from the Rogue Valley Seventh-day Adventist churches. The local congregations will contribute funds in a drive to help raise $100,000 for use in alcoholic education work in communi ties throughout the nation. - The work is to be done by the AmericanTernperance So ciety with headquarters in Washington, D.C., and chap ters in all parts of the coun try Plans call for organized studies, .of alcoholism on a community level and sponsor ing programs of education to help curb the use of alcoholic beverages, especially among teen-agers. Leading citizens will be asked to serve on committees in the develop ment of seminarys, workshops and other activities including the circulation of education al publications and motion pictures to combat alcoholism which is now termed the na tion's number 3 health prob lem. - Earl Miller is the temper ance secretary in the Med ford church, and Harold Han son heads the department the department in the Valley View church. Laymen's Sunday to Be Celebrated Here Laymen's Sunday will be celebrated at the Congrega tional church Sunday at the 10 a.m. hour. Speakers- will be Emmett Bullard and Ed Kirtley. Rally Day Service Planned for Sunday The Bethel Asesmbly of God wil conduct a Rally Day service Sunday at 9:45 ajn. - Rally Day is the concluding Sunday of the October En largement campaign in con nection with the national pro gram of the Assemblies' of God. An effort is being made to increase the present Sun day school enrollment by 10 per cent. At the conclusion of the service the pastor will present his Rally Day mes sage. John Friesen, as sistant pastor of the Apostolic Faith church, Chehalis, Wash., will preach tonight at 8 o'clock at the Medford church, Third st. and Central ave. Mr. Friesen, former resident of Medford from 1948 to 1954, was active in the local church, having sung in the tenor sec tion of the young people's chorus and later directing that group. He was married to the former Dorothy Young, daughter of Ray Young, Med ford. The couple have two chil dren who are with their par ents on a trip to San Fran cisco. They have been accom panied by Mr. Friesen's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ekelund, Portland, and will be at the local church through Sunday. Mr. Friesen . entered the ministry under the influence and guidance of the Rev. Clarence W. Frost, former Rogue River valley pastor and evangelist. Mr. Friesen was called to the assistant pastor ate of the Chehalis church in February, 1954. , Mrs. Ekelund, soprano, will sing tonight preceding the preaching.
