Oct. 22, 1959 J SOCTFA Meeting Set Next Thursday The first general fall meet ing of the Southern Oregon Conservation and Tree Farm association will be held Thurs day, Oct. 29, at the Jackson hotel, Medford, with a social hour beginning at .7:30 p.m. Dale Prentice, secretary manager of the association, gaid Howard Hopkins of the forest service will report on $he salvage program initiated July 1, timber inventory proj ect, general timber sale ac flvfty and information on the 1959 fire season. Te business session will include a general report on sociation activities as well 9 a reeort from the chair men of standing committees , toncerning their meetings and -htt can be expected in the .future. A memorial plaque will be Yesented to Mrs. L. L. Simp mn, widow of the late L. L. (Doc) Simpson, original secre-tgfy-treasurer of the associa tion, and an outstanding spokesman for forestry in southern Oregon. . Veterans Group to Sponsor Dance Here Medford barracks, Veter ans of World War I, is spon Jrig a dance at Walker's Dreamland dance hall on East Main st., Medford, Monday, tfov. 2. . . Proceeds from the dance will go for welfare and re habilitation work of the or gcftiization, and for the Christ Bias Fund for infirmary pa tients at the Veterans admin istration Domiciliary at Camp Vhitf:. Organization ' officials said he dance will not be a "rock and roll" dance, but all ages oare welcome. Music will be both western and popular styles. The dance will be operated on the "feed the kitty plan,' group officials said. Real Estate Exams Scheduled Friday Real " estate examinations for new real estate salesmen and brokers will he given by the real estate department of the state of Oregon at 8:30 a.iju Friday, Oct. 23, in the ifat)onal Guard armory south cf Medford. Examinations also are scheduled Saturday, Oct. 24, mt Commonwealth hall, Uni versity of Oregon, Eugene, ac- cording to William Frohn e mayer, member of the state board, who will conduct both .examinations. Expected at the Medford examination are 29 salesmen aad three brokers, ; Frohn aoayer said. The brief urged the CAB to reverse the examiner s find ing and to certify both Pan American World Airways and Northwest Orient Airlines to provide competitive air serv ice over the route. It was -filed by the Port of Portland, the Chamber of Commerce, the city of Port land and the local Freight Traffic association. Officers Elected By Area Engineers Robert L. Adams, Myrtle Creek, was elected president of the Rogue Valley section, professional Engineers of Ore gon, at the group's meeting Monday. Lester M. , Stinson was chosen vice president; Wilber L. Warren, secretary-treasurer; Robert A. Johnson, one year trustee; H. P. Bosworth, one-year trustee; and Allen A. Alsing, Ashland, two-year trustee. R. E. Hatchard, chief of air pollution control, 'Oregon State sanitary authority, was guest speaker. ANZUS TO MEET . .
