The general theory, so called because it is a generali- - jntton of Einstein's special theory, has as its fundamental r basis the principle of equiva ? lence, that is, the equality of i the inertial and gravitational t mass of a system. The experi ment to tet this theory using masers was first suggested by . Dr. Townfts, Dr. Yilmaz re- ported. Applies To Radio Waves Einstein's special theory " postulates that the velocity of " light, 186,000 miles a second, " is independent of its frame of . referenc of the motion of the ' light source, itself. The " maser used by the Columbia group a tubular cavity through which a beam of am .; monia molecules flow, radiat ing radio waves at their na "otural frequency. The experiments testing - Einstein's theories are de signed to detect any changes - in wave frequency that occur when the stream of molecules ? in the maser travel in differ ? ent directioins in relation to the earth or the sun. Drug Buyers To Talk on Uniform o Bids for Vaccine Trenton, N.J. -(UPD "Whole sale drug buyers from three states and the federal govern ment will testify they receiv ed uniform bids on Salk vac cine from five big drug firms now on trial for fixing the price of vaccine, the trial nrosecutor announced today. Lewis Bernstein, present ing the government's case m the trial of the five compan ies, said he would call as a witness a New York drug wholesaler who was told he rould not obtain the vaccine if he submitted a bid under a certain figure. To Call Purchaser! The government also will call drug purchasers from New York, Connecticut and Texas to show that uniform prices for the vaccine .were quoted by the five firms, Bernstein said. Former New York Gov. Thomas E. Dewey, represent ing the defendant Eli Lilly & Co., said in his opening state ment for the manufacturers that vaccine prices which similar to the fourth de cimal point were the result of well known percentage re ductions offered government agencies by the pharmaceuti cal industry.
