Ray Hender- I- son, executive secretary of the organization, - described as a , "dramatic new way to stimu late . tourist interest in the state" - o ; Edward F.;Bolt, GoidHill, OMCA president,; said the motel owners' campaign would not duplicate but would supplement tourist pro grams planned by state agen cies -and private groups. Bolt added .that he hoped the OMCA's new jea could serve as a "gateway to a healthy tourist industry" through which all groups and individuals interested could channel their efforts. Details of the project, Bolt, said, would be announced as soon as necessary copyright ing . and printing - procedures have been completed. Asked if he thought Raoul Castro, Fidel's brother, was a Communist, Pprter said, i "I don't know. There is.- evi dence both ways." ' Doing All Right ; - , "I think we're doing all right in Cuba right now," he said of United States foreign policy. He called Secretary of State Herter's participation in the recent Santiago (Chile) Conference "most encourag ing" and "a personal success because Herter won the confi dence of Latin American lead ers "as Dulles never did." Porter added, that he be lieved there was need to re define "intervention" with respect to Latin America. His suit for a isa to visit Red China, the' congressman said, is . "a test case" which involves the separation of powers in Washington govern ment. The responsibilities of Congress, he continued, re quire that the lawmakers get "recent and reliable facts" on which to base their decisions. By withholding Red China visas, he said, the state de partment "was - denying Con gress an opportunity -to get first-hand facts." : "I had never planned to go to Red China by myself," Por ter stated. He explained he intended to go with a trade mission or as a Congressional committee member. 'Propoganda Victory' ' : " '.What if Red China refused them admission even if the visas wer granted in Wash-. ington? This, . ; Porter said, would be, "a tremendous prop aganda victory for us." ; . As for the Crater Lake aeri al tramway, Porter disclosed he is having a model of the west side of the lake and. rim made by a "prominent Eugene Architect." The model-which he called his '"master stroke" would include a miniature tramway; He said he plans to exhibit the model to support his promotion of the tramway scheme . Porter asserted . that the tramway "would raise attend ance at ' Crater Lake by at least 100,000 in the first year." This; he added, would be a boon to southern OreV gon's tourist trade. Mitchell has asked- labor leaders to help him in a quest to im prove the plight of the farm workers. ' He told the AFL-CIO con vention Friday that American agriculture does not have to depend on poverty to . supply its labor needs. - He called farm labor "The most depressed area of Amer ican labor." -: " .
