Cottage Grove had the ball

Crater punt at the start of
the second quarter. Bob John-

Roe broke away on a reverse

Easley got 16 the 38 but John
son lost six yards to the 44.
The Lions next shook Easley
free with some fine deception
for his touchdown dash. The

Crater lost the ball after
the kick-off (Johnson had re

iron encounter at Mt. Shasta.
The scuffle featured the
pinpoint pissing of the Cali
fornia school's Tom McHugh
and the long, spectacular runs
of the Pi.-ates' Mike Cons
bruck and Dan Lumley with
Corisbruck having the major
ity of the romps.
While Phoenix could not
cope with the Shasta aerial
assault, neither could the
home team stop the Oregon
ians on. the ground. The Pi
rates' attack was particular
ly effective in the second half
when they scored four touch
downs, had an 80-yard run to
the goal by Consbruck nulli
fied by a clipping penalty.
Lumley Scores
The Pirates' crossed the
goal line first after a recov
ered fumble gave them the
ball on their own 45-yard
line. Consbruck ran 37 yards
to the MS 18 and Lumley
scrambled the rest of the way
on a reverse. Mt. Shasta after
the :Phoenix kick-off moved
from its. own 35 to the Phoe
nix 12 and Jim Addler kicked
a field goal for 6 to 3.
Phoenix took the Shasta
back to its 25. The Pirates
were held for f downs but a
roughing the kicker penalty
brought another chance and
Consbroke broke to the Mt.
Shasta 21 yard line. There,
again, Phoenix was stymied.
A long McHugh pass carried
the Calif ornians to the Pi

football win over Yreka, Calif.

Bob Hardy set up both Ash
land touchdowns with recov
eries of the pigskin. In the fi
nal moments he fell on the
ball on the Yreka 38-yard line
when Miner Tom Nelson could
not get off a punt. Three plays
later the Grizzlies had their
touchdown, after having been
set back by a penalty.
Hardy recovered a fumble
in the second quarter and five
