A Umirf, Ana. 30, If S9 Central Point Club Holds Recent Meeting Central Point Crater chap ter, Grandmothers Clubs of America, met recently for a potluck picnic at the home of Mrs. Roy Kelly, Cherry street, Central Point. Mrs. Carl Hover, chaplain, gave the invocation. She read a poem entitled, "I May Not Pass This Way Again." Mrs. W. J. Gebhard pre sided over the business meet ing, and plans were completed for a bazaar. The October meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles Jantzer, North Pacific highway. Central Point. Mrs. Royal Greenman Sr. will as sist Mrs. Jantzer as hostess. Election of officers will take place in this meeting. Maating Announced Adarel chapter, Order of Eastern Star, will hold its first fall meeting Thursday, Sep tember 3, at the Jacksonville Masonic temple. A potluck dinner will precede the meet ing at 6:30 pjn. General Hicks To Be Speaker Licensed Practical Nurses will meet Monday, August 31, at 7:30 pjn. at the home of Mrs. Hazel Mundlin, 81 S Ben net street. Major Gen. J. H. Hicks will speak on civil defense at the meeting. Persons planning to attend are to take a covered dish for the potluck dinner. The group will hold a ba zaar and food sale Wednesday, September 2, from 2 until 8 pjn. on the first floor of Sacred Heart hospital. Rice Family Returns After Camping Trip Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Rice, 316 Haven street, and their three children, Cheryl, Jack and Bill, returned Friday from a two week vacation in the Bend area. Wells, direct or of the Oregon school lunch program, will speak Tuesday at the 19th annual school lunch workshop for county schools at the Wilson elemen tary school here. Registration and coffee hour will begin at 8:30 a.m. School lunch personnel from Jackson, Josephine and Klam ath counties are expected to attend the one-day session. : . Two Attend Shows In Sari Francisco Mrs. Frances Flinn, Plaza apartments, and her grand daughter, Annette Flinn, have returned to Medford from a stay in San Francisco. The two shopped and attended a per formance of the Ice Follies and "Porgy and Bess." Annette is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Flinn, 3233 Jacksonville highway. Shakespearean Festival dancers, together with teveral members of the acting company and the technical crew, will appear in a special dance concert today at the Oregon Shakespearean Festival theatre in Ashland. Set for 4:30 o'clock, the program will be highly varied in content, and will climax the special offerings of the 1959 music depart menl. Festival Concert Today To End Season ys Series Ashland - Concluding the Oregon Shakespearean Festi val music department's spe cial offerings for the 1959 season will be an elaborate dance concert set fortoday at 4:30 o'clock at the Eliza bethan theatre here. Festival Choreographer John Hawkins has spent several weeks planning the event, and has rehearsed 22 members of the festival company for two weeks in preparation for the program. Director Hawkins, combining his per sonal comments with demon strations, will endeavor to show the development of dance, from the basic steps employed in national folk dances to the higher and more technically difficult forms -such as ballet and modern dance. . Highlighting the program will be dramatic dance sketches based on various Shakespearean characters, in cluding the . title roles from "Romeo and Juliet," Beatrice and Benedick from "Much Ado About Nothing," and the lovers from "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Through the employment of unifying dance features, Mrs. Hawkins will assist the au dience's recognition of the basic movements. Several surprises have been planned for the entertainment of the audience, together with ex amples of folk dances and a few selections from the chor eography of "The Maske of the New World." In addition to live accom paniment provided by Music Director W. Bernard Windt's staff of musicians, there will be full orchestral backing .supplied by high fidelity tape recording. Prices for the dance con cert are 75 cents for adults and 50 cents for children. Tickets may be purchased at the door on Sunday. Excel lent seats are also available for Sunday night's next-to-last staging of the brilliant history play "King John: The production, directed by Richard Risso, begins at 8:30 p.m. in the theatre. Caseys Arrive From California Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Casey arrived in Medford recently from southern California where both attended school during the summer weeks. They are with Mrs. Casey's mother, Mrs. C. Rease Braley, 245 Valley View drive, with whom their children spent the vacation time. Mr. Casey will leave this week end to return to Cali fornia. Mrs. Casey, teacher at McLoughlin Junior High school, was enrolled in edu cation classes at the Univers ity of California at Los An geles for summer school. Pythian Sisters To Meet Tuesday Pythian Sisters will meet p.m. for a covered dish lunch eon at the Pythian building. This will be the first meeting since the annual summer re cess. Past Chiefs club met at the home of Mrs. Harry Bry ant with Mrs. W. L. Walden as co-hostess. The next meeting is sched uled September 22. Pinochle was played fol lowing the meeting with prizes going to Mrs. Walter Michael and Mrs. Harry Barneburg.
