For those clever with scissors, sewing machine and needle, the problem is partly solved. One Medford mother who sews for her family is Mrs. Harvey D. Beatty, 3344 Madrona lane. Mrs. Beatty made the blue and beige mother-daughter dresses which sheand her two-year-old daughter, Pamela, are wearing, and last week she was starting on a length of red plaid material. The Beatty's son, Tony, celebrated his fourth birthday Tuesday, August 25, the day The Mail Tribune photographer called. Mrs. Beatty teaches Sunday school at First Methodist church. 1 x t s S N . Y-'S ( Mrs. Robert Billingsley, 2016 Woodlawn avenwe, member of Medford Junior Women's club, models the wool jacket dress which won her second place in the 1959 Vogue Sewing contest for Ore gon clubwomen earlier this year. En trants were to make "ideal club woman's costume." ' " Miss Bonnie Lawrence, who makes most of her clothing, recently completed this pale green wool frock as part of ' the wardrobe she will take to the University of Oregon this fall when she enrolls for her freshman year. The McCall pattern dress is lined with matching taffeta. Miss Lawrence, daughter of Mr. 6nd Mrs. Robert Lawrence, 300 Ardmore avenue, won the Lowry award for sewing at Medford High school last spring. ' c ' ' ' Xy tiP Included In the school wardrobe of 13-year-old Judy Chastaln will be this blue and grey plaid skirt and white blouse which she made this summer in Singer Sewing company classes. Judy, who will be in the eighth grade at McLoughlin Junior. High school this fall, and who plays in the school band, is making a matching weskit for the ensemble. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Chastain and granddaughter of Mrs. Anna Chastain, 704 North Central avenue, long - time Medford residents. Mrs. Robert Hostetter, 308 Havana street, sews for herself and her three children, Valerie, 8, student in the fourth grade at Hoover school. Glen, 4, and two-year-old Brenda. The material she holds will be made into a school blouse -for Valerie to wear with a jumper. The Hostetters are newcomers to Medford, having moved here from Salem about a year ago. Mrs. Hostetter is a member of Kappa Delta sorority, and works in Woman's Society of Christian Service, First Methodist church.
