Receives degree - Garold N. Davis of Ashland received a degree of master of arts Fri day from Brigham Young uni versity. Revolver Taken John Kern Willis, landlord at 328 North Riverside ave., informed Med ford police Friday of the theft of a .38 calibre revolver from a drawer of his desk at that address sometime since Aug. 13. Vehicles Collide Vehicles operated by Amanda Margar et Thompson, 1009 South Peach st.; and Garland Lee Lowery, 1612 Orchard Home dr., collided Friday on Main st. between Fir and Grape sts., Medford police reported. Slove Taken-Henry Charles Stemper, 113 Cottage st., in formed Medford police of the apparent theft of a $50 elec tric stove Thursday night or Friday from the rear of the garage at that address. Police were investigating the possi bility that Stamper's landlord may have removed the stove. Hit and Run - Carl F. Kell enberger, 348 Sutter ave., in formed Medford police that a hit-and-run automobile Friday night struck two parked cars owned by himself and by Wil lie H. Fischer, 910 Winchester ave., on 11th st. between Laur el and Peach sts. Police re ported no damage to either of the parked vehicles. Roundiable Heinz Bertram, who conducts an upholstery business here, will review his life in this country at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce roundtable lunch eon Monday noon at the Jack son hotel. Bertram was in the valley during World War II as a prisoner of war at Camp White. Car Struck - A parked auto mobile registered to Valley Motor company, 224 North Riverside ave., was struck Fri day by a car operated by Win ifred Alice Olson, 539 Haven st., on Grape st. between Fifth and Sixth sts., Medford police reported. Police said an un identified person in the park ed vehicle opened the door, and the moving vehicle struck it. No citations were issued. Accident - State police re ported a traffic accident at 9:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 99 and Charlotte Anne rd. A car driven by Lewis A.Ram bousek Jr., 18, of 423 King st., Medford, struck the rear of a car driven by Lucille J. Dan iels, 560 Charlotte Anne rd., Medford." This committee will explore the chance of Medf ord's becoming affiliated with a comparable city overseas for promoting in ternational under standing through exchanges of infor mation and visits. Driver Flees - The driver of a car involved in a three-vehicle, collision at Fifth and Bartlett sts. Friday fled the scene without leaving infor mation, Medford police report ed. Police identified the other drivers involved as Earl Ear nest McLeish, route 1,- box 560, Talent, operating a pick up, and Delbert Edward Cone, 902 Grant st. operating a U.S. mail truck. Police said that the car's owner was identified as Homer Austin Shatto, Sa lem, but that he was not the driver who fled. Jerry Leonard flew up to join his family and they at tended the 60th wedding an niversary of Leonard's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Leonard. i The couple, who lived in New York at the time of their marriage, moved to the Ump qua valley about 45 years ago, clearing the land for their farm. They have six children, all living, and 21 grandchildren. Fifty relatives attended the reunion last Sunday, when open house was held. Leonard's brother, Lloyd Xieonard, who is on the police force at Roseburg, was on duty in a car near the area at tne time of the Aug. 7 explosion. Every window in the car was broken out. Leonard's cap band was bro ken and his badge was bent, but he was unhurt. Mr. and Mrs. James Luther and children of Long Beach, Calif., were guests Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Minnick of Central Point. . James Luther is the oldest son of the Rev. and Mrs. Clifford Luther of Rial to, Calif. The family former ly lived in Central Point. Mrs. W. J. Dolan gave a party last Saturday for her daughter, Joan, on her 7th birthday. RADIO TELEPHONE BILL Washington-TOPD-The Senate has adopted and sent to the House a measure that would impose $100 fines for improp er ;use of radio telephones. The bill, requested by the in terstate commerce commis sion, is aimed chiefly against small boat radio broadcasts. The commission reported 371 rule violations including mis use of distress frequencies by small boats last year. I A Tribute To. ! Mr. Maurer was an account ant and received, his educa tion at the Central - High school in Whitefish, Mont., and was a graduate of the American Institute of Bank ing from the University of Washington. He was born in Balta, N.D., Dec. 1, 1906, and had been a resident of this community for the past eight years. Pallbearers will be Leo Kookee, Robert Buckles, Ray mond Furry, James Vencill, Herbert Drews and Dave Savigeo. Former Medford Man Named to Spokane Job Kenneth W. Degerness, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Deger ness, 520 Dakota ave., Med ford, has been named director of Pacific National Advertis ing agency's radio and televi sion department in Spokane, Wash. Degerness has been with the company three years. He is a graduate of Medford High school and of Whitworth col lege, Spokane, Wash. The three-act "mellow-drama" is staged at the group's theater near . the' Jackson county fairgrounds south of Medford. It started last Tues day,' and will resume Tues day, Aug. 25. Last night of the production .is Aug. 29. Footlighter officials said at tendance has been low, and encouraged valley- residents to see the Bruce Brandon three-act play. It is directed by Bob Ford.', Included in the' cast are Marie Pierce, Frank Buchter, Marion Keim, Virginia ; Mur phy, Audrey Reiss,' Margaret Dix, Charlerre Tarvin, Chuck Tucker, Marianne Samuelson, Thayer Tarvin, Dr.- Laurence Ware, Virginia Lusk and Dr. Frank Roberts.
