Winners of Montague Play Day Are Listed
Montague The fourth an
nual Play Day at Montague
Aug. 9 was considered a suc
cess. The host, Montague
Trail Riders, competed for the
traveling trophy against Ga
zelle Horsemen and the
Squaw Valley Riders.
The play day started with
the grand entry, lead by three
of Montague's cowgirls carry
ing various flags.
Club presidents were intro
duced. They are Marino Riz
zardo of Montague, Trail Rid
ers; Lenard Helsey of Gazelle
Horseman, and Ronald Hitch
cock of Squaw Valley Riders.

Antelope Hunters
Urged To Use Care
Salem-UPD-An urgent plea
to use extreme care with fire
has been directed by State
Forester Dwight L. Phipps to
the, many antelope hunters
who are heading for eastern
Oregon for the season open
ing Saturday.
He - pointed out that the
hazard is very high and the
slightest spark could ignite
dry grass and brush. He said
that in the open eastern Ore
gon country, winds can carry
fires over large areas of graz
ing land in a very short time.

Columbus,' Ohio -(UPD-, A
court 'ruled Wednesday that
one electric current may not
be forced, to check up on the
activities of another electric
current. The village- of Min
erva lost its fight to force the
Ohio Edison Co. to supply
power for one clock in the
Minerva Municipal Light and
Power Co. plant. The village
said it wanted the outside
pover fluctuations.
The antelope range is ex
tremely isolated, he added,
and it is difficult to get fire
fighters and. heavy equipment
into the area.
Dog Saves Wonder
Boy From Snake
Grants Pass (UPD A dog
named Tippy is being hailed
as a hero here for saving its
three-year-old master from a
rattlesnake.
Robert Ashton .of Wonder,
about 19 miles southwest of
here, said he heard the dog
barking frantically and went
outside to see his son, Bobby,
trying to hit a rattlesnake
with a stick. The dog was
pushing the boy away from
the snake.
Ashton killed the snake
with a .22 caliber rifle.

Aletta Myers and exhibitor
award went to Glenna Brown.
