Sights Crane-A large grey
and white crane-like bird with
a wing-span estimated at 5
feet was sighted by Spencer
Buffington early Wednesday
morning in a tree, near the
Buffington. home, on North
Phoenix, rd. The large, bird's
belly and breast were white
and its back and wings grey,
the boy reported. It had a
yellow beak and long neck
and legs.

Contaminated Water Med
ford City Councilman Edward
Hall, Ward I, of 712 East
Jackson st., complained to
Medford police Wednesday
evening that some small boys
were playing and swimming
in the contaminated waters
of Bear creek under the East
Main st. bridge. The patrol
man who mvestigated report
ed the children had departed
before his arrival, and sug
gested that signs warning of
contamination be placed along

' Three Medford youths were
fined- $20 reach in the city's
municipal court today and
received 30-day jail sentences,
suspended oh one condition.
Two of the youths, 15 and
16, were charged; with being
drunk in public. The third,
one's brother, 17, was charged
with illegal possession of al
coholic beverages. ,
