Planes Fly Lower Over Nudists Camp
Devore, Calif. -OJPfl- Nudists
celebrating the 30th anniver
sary of the nudist movement
in the United States say it's
mighty strange how airplanes
suddenly seem to lose altitude
while flying over their camp.
But the nudists add they
take it in stride. Any show of
indignation would be a show
of inhibition and that's pretty
hard to imagine about nudists,
said Mr. Hocker, manager of
the nudist's Oakdale ranch.
"If we were upset," he ex
plained, "it would mean we're
inhibited and if we are inhib
ited we wouldn't be nudists,
get it?"
Hocker said that five mili
tary planes from nearby Ed
wards Air Force base flew
over the camp Saturday and
one forestry plane.
Hocker said about 800 nu
dists took part in the three
day convention ended Sunday.
It's an annual affair of the
We tern Sunbathing associa
tion. His parting thought for the
day was this: Nudists believe
that most people who sleep
without bed clothes are poten
tial nudists. I

sentative Charles O. Porter
(D-Ore.)
Porter was initial sponsor
of the resolution in the House
of Representatives. Senator
Joseph S. Clark (D-Pa.) intro
duced the Senate resolution
Porter said he had received
many letters from men and
women from most parts of
the United States expressing
approval of the proposed res
olution which would strength
en the United Nations through
the rule of law in the limited
field of war prevention.
The Oregon congressman
said, "I believe avoiding all
out nuclear war is item num
ber one on any person's
agenda today." He said. "It
Is easy to avoid the responsi
bility and find false security
in the thought that everything
will take care of itself.
Porter said such thinking
wouldn t solve the existing
dilemma which he described
as the greatest our world has
ever known. Approximately
25 representatives and 20
senators have intruced the
charter review resolution.
The legislation will be in
troduced in all legislatures in
the free world and in other
nations, ' if possible, Porter
said. He added that more than
a fourth of the members of
the British Parliament sup
port, the resolution. Arrange
ments have been made to have
the legislation filed in the
legislative bodies of Italy,
France, the Netherlands and
West Germany.

Hefti said. The victim and two
other hikers were believed
from Savannah, Ga.
The hikers were tentatively
identified from a diary.
He reported by radio that
he and his two companions
were camping in the canyon

tracks today. About seven
more men were flown into the
