This occurred, she said, after she saw Mrs. Finch lying on the floor. GOLD HILL Classmates Hold Reunion By MRS. CLYDE KELL Gold . Hill-Mrs. Lee. John son was hostess for a reunion of former classmates at her home in Medford July 17. The hostess is the former Anne Christensen. Attending were Mrs. Ro land Washburn, Mrs. Bob Jacks, both of Gold Hill, Mrs. Donald H a n s c o m. Central Point, Mrs. Douglas Ness, Medford, Mrs. Albert Goupil, San Martin, Calif., and Mrs. Donald Dusenberry, wife of a former schoolmate of the women, when they, were stu dents in the old Gold -Hill High school here. Mrs. Thelbert Wright, Sar dine Creek, was unable to at tend because of a fire near her home that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Arty Laws and daughter, Elivbeth Laws, Rogue River, were hosts to a family picnic near Gold Hill recently. Attending were his nephew and niece, the Rev. and Mrs. Delbert Laws, and children, Debbie, Steve, and Douslas. Port Orchard, wasn.; Harold Laws, Mrs. Effe Black burn, Mrs. Orva Jean Cruise and children, Jim ana manna Cruise, all of Rogue River. The group visited at the Clyde Kell home en route to Kogue River. While in aouthern Oregon, the minister and his family 3 were guests of his uncle and aunt, .Mr. and Mrs. Harold Laws, West Evani Creek rd.; Rogue. River. Mrs. Effe Black burn, an aunt o Mr. Laws was hostess for a family din ner at her home In Rogue River. Mr. Laws, pastor, of the Church of the Nazarene in Port Orchard, Wash., was guest minister at the Church of God In Rogue Kiver. The Rev. and Mrs. James F. Eubanks Jr., returned to their home here last Thursday after a trip to Portland. Mr. Eubanks is pastor of the Gold Hill Community Methodist church, Mr. -and Mrs. Ferd Jones had as guests last week their daughter, Mrs. Albert Goupil, and her daughter, Marna, of San Martin, Calif. Albert Gou pil joined the family at the Jone's home Saturday. Mrs. Gernie Noah and sons of Merlin have been guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Price, Mrs. Richard Abbott and son, Dickie, and daughter, Julie, of Chula Vista, Calif., arrived last week to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Cogswell. The Abbott's daugh ter, Debbie, arrived several weeks ago and' has been a guest of her grandparents. The Rev. and Mrs., Jerry Reeves are parents of a daugh ter born July 4. She has been named Krestia Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. William Price, Gold HilL are maternal grandparents, and Mr. and - Mrs. Frank Reeves, McKinleyville, Calif. are1 paternal grandparents. The Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Reeves and daughters have moved to Prospect where he will be pastor of the Assem bley of God church there. Bill McHareue is conva lescing at his home after be ing a patient in the Rogue Valley hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Earl'Courtr ney and son, Henry, of Med ford were hosts to a dinner party honoring his mother, Mrs. Lee Marsden, on her birthday Saturday, July 18. Attending, besides the hosts and the honoree, were her husband, ee Marsden, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Johnson and son, Charles Johnson,' all of Gold Hill, and Mrs. Johnson's brother, Lee Tolman, of Sa lem. Mrs. H. L. Maerz of Yam hill was a guest last week of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Maerz. Accompanying Mrs. H. L. Maerz to Gold Hill were three other women, who were over night guests at the Maerz and Chet Price homes en route1 to Los Angeles, Calif. They 1 ii -- mm were Mrs. J. R. Young, a cousin of Elbert Maerz, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Coon Trout, Canby, Ore., and Miss Phylis Fleck, Los Angeles. An old-fashioned ice cream social has been planned by the Woman's Society of the Gold Hill Community Method ist church,. and will be held on the lawn at the church at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. Proceeds will be used for the new furnace fund. Cake, pie and ice cream will be served. The public is invited. Mrs. Lawrence Smith is chairman of the event. She will be assisted by Mrs. Mel vin Burnett and Mrs. Paul Molloy. Mrs. George Dorman is in charge of publicity for the event and Mrs. Roy Eskew, the posters. - Contributions to the fur nace fund for the church may be made to Mrs. Melf ord Hood. financial treasurer, Mrs. Frank Carter, treasurer, or Ferd Jones, chairman of the board. Harold Gist,- an employee of the Ideal Cement company. received word of the death of his sister, Mrs. Ruby Conrad, Friday, July 17. He left Sun day, July 10 for Henderson, Nev., to attend funeral serv ices Monday. He and Mrs. Gist had gone to Henderson the previous week end because of roe serious uiness oi nis sister. and had returned to their received. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Burton and daughter of Glendale, Calif., were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Cogs well last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Bailey and son, Kenneth Bailey, had as their recent guests Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Miller and her son, Jack Essman of Ta coma, Wash., and Mrs. Miller's father, Fred Lobe, Olympia, Wash. The Baileys took their guests to Crater lake and Dia mond lake. Mr. and Mrs. Don ald Hanscom were hosts to a picnic at their home at Cen tral Point for the visitors. Mrs. William Wright return ed to her home on Sardine creek last Saturday from Rogue Valley hospital, where she was a major surgery pati ent. Mr, and Mrs. William Wright had returned to their home from a two weeks trip to South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Accompanying the Wrights on the trip were their son and daughter-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Thelbert Wright, Sardine Creek. They went by way of Boise, Idaho, where the Thelbert Wright's four children, Sharon, Mar lene, Beverley and Donnie, remained to visit Mrs. Thel bert Wright's parents. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Force Sun day, July 19, were two of his brothers ' and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Force, Medford, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Force, Central Point. Mark Boyden, deputy coun ty surveyor, attended a re cent meeting of the city coun cil, and discussed several problems relating to survey of the city for getting exact points located so that street improvement could be done with accuracy as to property lines. , The council voted to start a survey program and to em ploy Mark Boyden to do the survey work. The first project will be to establish a base line from the monumented section corner to the quarter section corner of sections. 10 and 15 in vicinity of the city limit line on the Sams Valley rd.
