Bunche, Nobel Peace Prize winner and diplomat, has been barred, with his son, from member ship in the West Side Tennis Club at Forest mils, N. Y. The club's president told Bunche that the club ex cludes Negroes and Jews. This is the club at which the international Davis Cup fi nals will be held this year. Registration For Adult Education Classes Now Open Registrations are now being taken for classes in practical nursing, automotive mechan ics and electronics according to officials of the adult edu cation department of the Med ford High school. The practical nurse train ing is a 12 months course con sisting of classroom and on- the-iob hospital training , in Rogue Valley hospital. It will qualify applicants for the ex amination by the Oregon state board of nursing, for licens ing as a practical nurse. The automotive mechanics course is a two year program consisting of afternoon and evening classes which will in clude all phases of auto me chanics and is designed to meet the ' needs of persons preparing for employment in this trade. The electronics coursfe, two years in length, will prepare persons for employment as highly skilled technicians in the electronic industries. It will also provide opportuni ties for those persons already engaged in technical occupa tions to obtain further train ing that will help them ad vance in their employment! The courses will begin in September; however, interest ed persons are encouraged to make application now because of limited enrollment: Application forms may be obtained at the adult educa tion office of the Medford High school between 8:30 a jn and noon or by telephoning SPring 3-5341. Workshops Set at SOC This Summer Ashland - Richard T. Doi, wno is completing require ments toward his doctorate at Columbia university, will join the staff of Southern Oregon college "to conduct the work shop in art July 13-24, accord ing to an announcement from Mrs. Mable Winston, regis trar. Future workshops . include the Siskiyou band camp July 19-31 and methods in arith metic July 27-Aug. 7. Glenn T. Matthews, SOC assistant professor of music, and Clar ence Sawhill, noted director of bands at UCLA, are sched uled to direct the music camp. A. L. Siebenlist, SOC assistant professor of mathe matics, will conduct the re search in arithmetic methods During the post session Aug. . 10-21, Miss Helene Robinson, SOC assistant professor of mu sic, will conduct a music workshop, and Chester Squire, SOC assistant professor of education, will teach a class in audio-visual aids.
