MAIL TRIBUNE, Medford, Or. Sams Valley Honored on ' Sams Valley - Open house was held Sunday, June 28, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Sanderson, Sams Valley, in observance of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary. The Sandersons were mar ried in Jacksonville, and have lived in Jackson county ever since. - , The couple's daughter 'and. five daughters in - law were hostesses for the event. Approximately 40 friends called between 1 and S o' clock. ' The Sandersons' grand daughters served refresh ments and assisted during the open house. They were Miss Judith and Miss Delores San derson, who greeted the guests; Mrs. Jack Pech, who had charge of the gifts; Mrs. Larry Sanderson, the guest book;- Miss Barbara Sander son poured coffee; Miss Mary Sanderson, punch; and Miss Sandra Sanderson, the cake. Mrs. Milton Sanderson baked the wedding cake. Mrs. B. L. Sanderson, Medford, loaned the lace table cloth, Mrs. Clifford . Graves, Sr., of Central Point, the punch bowl and the Meadows Union Sun day school provided the cof fee urn. Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson were married July 1, 1909, at the Methodist parsonage in Delegate! to the 22nd International contention of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority were Mitt Barbara Baker of Medford (standing) and Mm. C. M. Gilmour of Corvallis. They are pictured her In the garden of the Trench Lick-Sheraton hotel, French Lick, Indiana, where the convention was re cently held. Mist Baker, a senior at Oregon Slate college, is currently president of Alpha Gamma Delta, and also presi dent of Phi Chi Theta, scholastic honorary group for women in business She It the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A Sunday, July 12, 1959 Residents Anniversary Jacksonville. They made their home on a ranch in Beagle for 28 years after spending the first five years in and near Central Point. For. the past 17 years they have resided in Sams Valley. All the couple's children were present for the celebra tion. Attending were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beers, Beagle, and their sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sanderson and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sanderson, Sams Val ley; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sanderson, Happy Camp; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sanderson, Oakland; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanderson, Trail. Seventeen of their 20 grandchildren were present. A grandson, Jerry Sanderson, telephoned his grandparents during ; the afternoon from Vardeen, France, where he is stationed with the army. All six great-grandchildren were present. The campus set will be knee-deep in patterns next term. The big trend in casual stockings is toward fanciful patterns in stretch nylon. Wash. Tne bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs: Dwieht McCorkle. Eagle Point, and Mr. -Ready is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Ready, Port Orchard, Wash. The Rev. Ceoree Almond performed the double-rine ceremony at eight o'clock in the evening. Gladioli, stocic and carnations in Dink and white, decorated the altar and candelabra. Ribbon bows ana greenery were at the end of the pews and the aisle was lined with candles. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length white brocade, taffeta trown. fashioned with fitted bodice and full skirt. Her fin ger tip length tulle veil was held in place by a crown of pearls and sequins. She "car ried a hmimipt rvf white, vel- low-lipped orchids and steph- anotis on a large covered white Bible. Mrs. Lyle Read, Coos Bay, Ore., a Phraterian sister of the bride at college, was matron of honor . and soloist. Their flowers were cascade bouquets of pink carnations. Kenneth McAndrews of Klamath Falls, served as best man, James Ready Jr., broth er of the bridegroom and Gerald Gillis of Los Angeles, seated the guests. Mr. Mc Andrews and Mr. Gillis were forestry classmates of the bridegroom.' Max McCorkle, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. -' For her daughter's wedding Mrs. McCorkle wore a beige faille dress with pink acces sories and light pink orchid corsage. Mrs. Ready wore a beige crepe dress with pink accessories and pink orchid corsage. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlor. Mrs. Kenneth Dodson and Mrs. M. J. Skauge served the wedding cake. Mrs, R. D. McCorkle presided at the coffee table. Mrs. F. T. McCorkle served tea and Mrs. Ruth Smith and Mrs. M. F, Sheldon served at the punch table. Miss Patricia McCorkle, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. F. T. McCorkle took care of the gifts. Miss Jeannie Dod son passed the dream cake from a ribbon decorated basket. The couple traveled to Van couver and Victoria, B. C. for their wedding trip. The bride wpre a brown and beige suit with beige accessories. They 'are both graduates of Oregon State college, the bride with the class of 1959 and the bridegroom with the class of 1958. Their home will be in Mc Cloud, Calif., where Mr Ready is stationed with the U. S. Forest Service and Mrs. Ready will teach commercial subjects in the McCloud High school. Senior Activities For June Given Good Attendance Attendance at classes in the Senior Activity center has been described as "good," with 213 persons participa ting in center activities during the month of June. Some ac tivities and schedule changes have been announced: Mrs. Mark Goldy will show colored slides of Java, Bali, Singapore, and Malaya at her second travel show Monday, July 13, at 1 p.m. The group will vote then on whether to hold their shows mornings rather than afternoons for the rest of July and August. The pastel painting class will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday under the direction of Mrs. Ruby Twedell. This will give members time for three hours in their workshop. The wood carving class, un der Glenn Van Wickle's direc tion, will meet from 10 a.m. until noon and have lunch during its social hour. The Spanish class will continue to meet at 9 a.m. Thursdays. The orchestra, under Edwin Root, will continue its practice ses sions from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. An exhibit of oil paintings, framed pastels, and wood carvings made at the center by men and women over fifty were shown July 11 at the state capitol at Salem during the quarterly meeting of the Oregon State Commission on First Methodist Church Scene of Jones- Can Rites First Methodist church, Medford, was the setting for the wedding of Miss Sally Elaine Carr to Roger Allen Jones on June 20. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Walter J. Carr, 1662 Scenic avenue, Central Point, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel L. Jones, 920 South Holly street, Med ford. Dr. George G. Rosebery read the double-ring cere mony at two o'clock in the afternoon. More than 100 guests attended. Mr. Carr gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a gown of white nylon taffeta de signed with scoop neckline and cap sleeves, and carried a purple orchid encircled with Ester Reed daisies and a white bible. The traditional pennies worn in the bride's slipper were supplied by the bride groom's mother and by the bride's cousin, Mrs. Gaynor Huek, Klamath Falls. The penny loaned by Mrs. Jones was one used at her wedding and had also been worn by the bridegroom's sister. The pearls she wore were the bridegroom's gift. Miss Roberta Danielson, of Central Point, was maid of honor and also attending the bride were two cousins, Miss Sharon Stevens and Mrs. David Hess, both Rogue River. Miss Danielson wore a baller ina frock of pastel yellow, Miss Stevens wore aquama rine blue and Mrs. Hess' frock was lavender. They carried bouquets of pink carnations and white Ester Reed daisies. Miss Stevens and Mrs. Hess made the corsages for the wedding party. Diana Gilpatrick, Coquille, Ore., niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a pink frock with matching headband and carried a basket of rose petals. Mrs. Huck loaned the basket and the ring pillow. Kent Jones, Elkhart, Ind., was best man for his brother and ushers were Kenneth Van Ausdall and Warren Stearns. William Wilson played the organ music. Mrs. Melvin Hall and Mrs. Lyle Schoppert had decorated the church with baskets of roses and other garden flow ers. Kenneth Carr, brother of the bride, and Robert Jones, Elkhart, nephew of the bride groom, lighted the candles. The reception was held at the home of the bride's par ents. Punch was served by Miss Betty Baker, Central Point and the cake was cut and served by Miss Mary -Jo Hall, cousin of the bride, and Miss Sonja Hanson. Pouring coffee was Miss Rosalie Hew itt. Miss Mary Jones took charge of the guest book and the Misses Suzanne Hall and Karen Hass, .both cousins of the bride, the 'gifts. Mrs. Doyle Mills and Mrs. Deane Brandon decorated the reception tables. Mr. Jones and his bride spent their honeymoon on the Oregon coast, the bride wear ing for traveling a summer suit of tangerine shade. The newlyweds are living at 920 South Holly street. The bride Is a graduate of Crater High school and the bridegroom, who attended school in Klam ath Falls and Medford, is now a student at Southern Oregon college. He is employed by the Fir P-ay company, Camp White. Visits Grandmother Gretchen Morehead, Coul- terville, Calif., is in. Medford to spend a vacation with her grandmother, Mrs. E. M. Lo- vell, 123 Almond street. Gretchen's parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Morehead, and her mother is the former Vir ginia Lovell. '3 off Students Given Partial Tuition Corvallis Miss Joan E. Bonney of 6061 Crater Lake highway, Medford, and Her schel L. Mack, 1015 Oak street, Central Point, have been awarded $168 partial tuition scholarships ' to start their studies this fall at Ore gon State college. Both graduated last month from Crater high school, Cen tral Point. The scholarships are spon sored by the state system of higher education to encouraee promising high school gradu ates to continue their educa tion. At Crater, Miss Bonney was active in National Honor so ciety, Quill and Scroll and as treasurer of the senior class. Young Mack was active in Na tional Honor Society as vice president, vice president of speech club and in the school plays. Miss Bonney plans to enroll in the school of science at OSC, Mack plans to go into education. T- Federation Plans Meeting Friday Officials of clubs of the Siskiyou district, Oregon Federation of Garden clubs, will hold a meeting Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. in the Jackson county courthouse auditorium, Medford.
