mzz 1 END OF THE BATTLE Zora Folley,- second-ranked heavyweight contender, knocked out Chief Alvin Williams in the fourth round of their fight at Fresno, Calif. Williams supped part-way through the ropes and couldn't get up. Older Gals Cop Contest 32-14 The women's team scored its second win over the girls' club in YMCA softball by a 32 to 14 score yesterday. The older gals provided 35 hits and the younger lasses 21 in the high scoring wide open ofensive game. Another game is planned next Thursday. New Jersey has 81 commer cial airports. Coach Willis Casey of North Carolina State, who has tutored swimmers for 18 years after an attack of tuberculosis ruined his own career as a merman, flatly p r e d i c ted Thursday that the squad 'which he is to head will de feat the Japanese. Casey's crew has a date in Tokyo with Japan's best July 20-22 followed by other meets in the Far East. Wright Winner In Tippecanoe Leesburg, Ind. -4DPD- Mickey Wright carded a brilliant 68, two under men's par, Thurs day to set a Tippecanoe Lake Country club course record for women and capture the $2,600 Tippecanoe Lake wom en's golf tourney. The San Diego, Calif., golf er posted a three-under-par 32 on the front nine, but bogied the 18th hole to go one over on the back nine. Even so, she was two strokes ahead of Faye Crock er of Wichita, Kan., and Jo anne Prentice of Birmingham, Ala., and three strokes better than defending champion Marlene Bauer Hagge of Del Ray Beach, Fla. GIANTS-STEELERS TRADE New York (CPU The New York Giants have traded C. R. Roberts, a back, to the Pitts burgh Steelers for guard Dar rell Dess. Roberts, former Southern California star, nev er saw action with the Giants. He has played two seasons of Canadian professional football. Other quarterfinal winners in the men's division were Bob Prall of Salem, who edged Kent Myers of Aber deen on the 19th hole; Ron Willey of Vancouver, B.C., who gained a 5 and 4 win over Bob Bronson of Port land's " Riverside golf club, and Dick Stearns of East moreland club, Portland, who gained a v4 and 3 win over Bob Pratt of Renton, Wash. In 36-hole semifinal action slated today Holland met Stearns and Willey faced Prall. Harbotlle Victor Mrs. Pat Harbottle, Taco ma, Thursday defeated Seat tle's Judy Hoetmer 1-up in the quarterfinal match of the Pa cific Northwest Golf associa tion's women's championships at Columbia-Edgewater here. Mrs. Harbottle was three down at the end of nine holes. Oregon and Idaho, Shirley lEnglehorn of Caldwell, Ida., ousted Betty Martin of Long view, Wash., 2 and 1, in an other quarterfinal match.
