X I CARL E. WIMBERLY Lumber DiTiiion Chairman Section Heads Appointed in. Division of UMC Carl E.. (Bud) Wimberly, chairman of the lumber divi sion for the 1959-60 United Medford Crusade fund raising campaign, this week reported completion of his appoint ments of section heads for the division. -" Serving in key positions in the division in this year's campaign will be Robert J. Lockwood, Clinton C. Neeley, Robert Higgins, Edward, G. Nave, Donald C. Jackson, Jer old J. McGrew, and Douglas F. Gordenier. The section heads are now recruiting cam paign workers and completing organization for the drive. This is Wimberly's first ma jor position in one of the UMC drives. In the past he has worked as a fund raiser for the campaigns, and has been active in the Child Guid ance Clinic, one of the UMC member agencies. . , Wimberly is president of Western Lumber, Inc., in Med ford. He and his wife, Fran, have lived in Medford since 1946. They have a son, Lee, aged 12, and a daughter, Car olyn, aged 11. Planning Session All UMC workers will have a full-day planning session this Friday. The 1959 Cam paign clinic will be held at the Jackson hotel from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lowell F. Turner, associate director of field service for the United Com munity Funds and Councils of America will be featured speaker at the clinic. There will also be panel discussions en all phases of UMC work. UMC campaign workers will attend the clinic from Medford, Ashland, Talent, Jo sephine county, Klamath county, Lake county, Rose burg, Coos Bay, North Bend, Reedsport, and Redding, Calif. Del Landing, 1959 UMC campaign chairman, reports that planning and organiza tion for this year's drive are well ahead of schedule. The campaign will kick off on Sept. 14, with a total goal of $138,782. Baton Rouge, Lsu-Robert Angelle, close political associ ate of Gov. Earl K. Together they watched as a hole was knock ed through the doctor's wall and a man's head poked through it. Behind him were 18 other men, who had picked a poor route to escape from the jail next door. Prospect Lions Auxiliary held an executive meeting Monday evening, June 29, at the home of Mrs. Vic Chap man on Crater Lake highway. President, Mrs. Caroline Harding, presided at the busi ness meeting. The coming hillbilly jamboree was dis cussed and it was decided to enter a float in the parade, which takes place July 25 at 9:30 a.m. The next auxiliary meet ing will be held at Union Creek at Beckie's cafe Wed nesday, July 8, at 8 p.m. The Community store will be open in the Community hall Monday, July 13, with Mr. Ralph Parton in charge. Any one having clothing to donate may do so at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barber will return to their home here next week after a three Girl, 5, Slain; Neighbor Hunted Las Vegas, Nev.-(UPD-A 21- year-old man who recently separated from" his pregnant bride was sought today in the rape-slaying of a five-year-old neighbor girl. The beaten and stabbed body of Dolores Stafford was found Tuesday in the attic of the home of Kenneth Erwin, a cook, after an all-night search. The condition of Dolores' body-bruised, with her throat cut and a stab wound in the stomach-caused the district attorney, the mortician and a police sergeant who exam ined her to cry openly. "This makes other rape- slayings look like the work of a humanitarian," said Dis trict Attorney George Foley. An immediate search was begun for Erwin, who has been missing since late Mon day. He was fired from his job Monday for failing to show up at work the day be fore. His bride of two months, Catherine, left him on Sun day after . a domestic spat. Neighbors said the woman's parents came here and took her back to their home in Kingman, Ariz.- They said Mrs. Erwin was expecting a child in the fall. months touring Europe.
