Mower Theft - The theft of a power mower valued at $119.50 was reported to city police by Winnie Mane Eng ram, 914 Queen Ann ave., Medford. The mower was taken from an unlocked gar age at the rear of her resi dence, reports indicate. Clan Party-The Shipmate's Sunday school class party of the First Methodist church will be held Friday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of F. F. Burk. OBITUARIES FRANCIS HASLETT Grants Pass -Francis Has (Frank) Haslett, 69, of 2905 Leonard rd., died July 4. He was born June 18, 1890, in Westmoreland county, Penna. Westmoreland county, Penna., and for the past 30 years was a, member of the Salvation Army. Mr. Haslett was with the United Fruit company in Costa Rica and while there was comimssioned as an en voy in the Salvation Army. In Pueblo, Colo., in 1929 he became a soldier in the corps. He had been a resident of Grants Pass for the past three years and was a soldier with the Medford Salvation Army although he was un able to attend Army services regularly. He recently be came a member of the Assem bly of God church, Grants' Pass. , He is survived by his wife, Manerva Haslett, Grants Pass, two sons, Melvin Has lett, Gold Beach, and Warner Haslett, who is with fhe U.S, Army Engineers in Iran; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Hull and Hull chapel with the Rey Harry L. Ayers officiating. Inter ment was in Hawthorne Me morial Gardens. MATT J. KOZAK Matt Joseph Kozak, 84, of the Old Military rd., died Monday in a local hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris, funeral directors. WALTER W. BRAHS Walter William Brahs, 70, of 449 Haven st., and a resi dent of Medford for the past 25 years, died at his home on Tuesday. He and his sons had conducted an auction business in Grants Pass for many years until his retirement 10 years ago. ; Arrangements for funeral services will be announced by Chapel mortuary. , ley Hornbrook cemetery. - Mrs. Rose was a life mem ber of the Methodist church first in the William creek area of Josephine county, and then in Hornbrook. Mass Thursday For R. J. Savage A requiem mass for Richard James Savage, 52, of Central Point, who died Monday, will be offered by the Rev. Wil liam McLeod at Sacred Heart Catholic church Thursday at 9 ajn. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held tonight at 8 o'clock in the Conger Morris Funeral home. Com mittal will be in Hillcrest Me morial park. Mr. Savage was born March 20, 1907, at Carson City, Nev., and on Oct. 17, 1937,. in Car son City, he married Jeanne Stevens, who survives. He had lived in Central Point for the past 17 years and for 15 years has owned and operated the Savage Turkey farm there. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Donald; two daughters, Mary and Shirley, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Ruby Connolly, San Francis co; three brothers, including his twin brother, Joh' Sav age; William Savage, both of Carson City, and Charles Sav age of San Francisco, and one sister, Mrs. Cleo Payne of Sac ramento. Pallbearers will be William Peninger, Roy Colpitts, Ber nard Parent, R..D. Kay, Ray mond Niehaus and Arthur Van Leeumen. MRS. ELLA N. Officers said this morning they have a "fairly good" de scription of the car and a gen eral .description of the man who attempted to rape a wom an as she rested, in the park. Profit taking in steels, oils and'electronics brought irreg ularity into the industrial list, which had moved ahead in nine consecutive sessions to new all-time average highs. The railroad average hit a new three-year high. Kansas City Southern was the railroad star, rising more than 4 points at its best level. General Motors lost more than a point but other auto pivotals improved fraction ally. DuPont was strong in the chemicals, , which helped to cushion the industrial average Chemical stocks were easier as a group.
