Brannock, contact repre nttive, VA Domiciliary, &FB White, said today. Tne dates are determined by three different sets of cir cumstances, with the date ap lication for compensation is filed being a factor in each case. Brannock listed the dates as follows: 1. If the veteran files his application within a year from the date of his release from active service, and if VA finds the service-connected disabil ity was severe enough at sep aration to be compensable, payment may be made retro ' active to the day f ollowyif bis release. 2. If the veteran files appli cation within 8 year from the date of his release, but his disability was not severe enough at release to be com pensable, payments may not be made for periods earlier than the date the evidence sgows the disability became severe enough to be compen sable. On Ygar After Release 3. If the veteran files his application later than one may be made retroactive to the date of filing. Brannock said this does not mean there is a time limit for filing, adding that veterans may apply for disability com pensation at any time during their, lives. Compensation may be paid monthly to veterans who have disabilities which are deter mined to have been incurred in or aggravated by service in the armed forces during either peacetime or wartime. The peacetime' rate Is -80 per cent of the wartime rate unless the disability resulted from extra-hazardous service, in which case the wartime rate may apply,' Brannock added. Dresslar io Resign Pill Post in Fall Frank A. Dresslar, president and general er for Pacific Telephone m the Oregon area, has announc ed his intention of retiring Aug. 31. He will have com pleted over 40 years, of serv ice with the company. Succeeding Dresslar will be F. M. Mitchell, it was an nounced. Mitchell is a gradu ate of Oregon State college. Blue top 5Pr P5 Siafe Files Suit For Fire Damage Klamath Falls - The state of Oregon and the Klamath Forest Protective association have filed suit in federal court for damages of $27,150 against the United States as the result of a forest fire which Jjurned valuable tim ber. The fire was set Sept. 24, 1957, in the Bogus creek area in Siskiyou county, California, by the forest service. The 4-H Truth Seekers . At their meeting on June 4 the 4-H Truth Seekers planned a garden tour for June 13 and a cookout. for June 14. Raylene Viers and Rena Brew were chosen for the tour committee. June Brew was elected chairman of the cookout and she chose Jon Anderson, Penny Ander son, and Rena Brew to help with the planning. Jon Anderson gave a re port on the 4-H television pro gram in which he, Sharon Cannon, and Penny" Anderson participated. . On the garden tour on June 13 Jon Anderson was the first member to show his garden. He is experimenting with dif ferent types of mulches and vegetables. Next, Penny Anderson showed her garden and dis cussed the flowers she is growing. Then Rena Brew showed her garden and gave the name of every plant. We next looked at Raylene Viers gar den and had refreshments at her house. Rena Brew and Raylene Viers took their turns at be ing hostesses. - The 4-H club members and their families met at Tou Velle park for an afternoon cookout on June 14. After a half an hour of fishing we complaint charges that em ployees of the forest service were negligent in permitting it to cross the state line. The fire burned over sev eral hundred acres of timber land in the Copco area, and extended into Klamathrcoun- ty.. The fire spread , rapidly when unexpected winds whip ped sparks into unburned area ' vice and out of the area circled by a fire line.
