Mrs. Hoppe has been spending the week in Portland seeing the Rose festival. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Shady Cove are spending a month at Fourmile lake. " Mr. nd Mrs. Anthony Me dina of Mountain View, Calif., .visited with Anthony's uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joa quin Medina, of Shady Cove, while on their honeymoon trip. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kelley of Shady Cove made a trip over the week end to the coast, going down as far as Crescent City "and coming ' back up the coast to Bandon, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Nelson of Shady Cove, who had their trailer parked at the Shady Cove motel, have "moved to Winston, Ore., where Mr. Nel son is employed in a mill. m, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Monical of Shady Cove are parents of : a girl born June 13 in Rogue Valley hospital in Medford. The baby, gho is the couple's second child, has been named : Leslie Gay. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Alexander of Sun ny Valley, Ore., and Mr. and MA. Harry Monical of Bend, Or9. Great-grandparents are Mrs. Olive P. Ehrlich of Man hattan Beach, Calif., and Mr. nd Mrs. C. V. Monical of Bend. Members of the Shady Cove Garden club won a -second place and six third place awards on their entries in the Medford Rose Society show Those attending from this area were Mesdames R. D Chamberlain, Scott Brill, George Moore, O. L. Williams, Richard Pfeifer, Edwin Stro- ther, Floyd Kelley . and Mr, and Mrs. Ranald Axtell. Nancy Kisling of Days Creek, Ore., is spending a few days visiting with her uncle and wife, Mr, and Mrs Joe Green of Shady Cove. The Personalities, singing trio of Shady Cove and Trail, composed of Billy Pfeifer, Don Arnold and Duke Wilde start ed a singing engagement last Saturday with Dick Spain's orchestra at the Corral. They will sing with the orchestra there each, Saturday night. They made a record, "Teen ager in Love" this past week, which, when released, will be played over the local radio stations. Mrs. Mae Lane of Trail, mother of Mrs. Jack Koss, has returned home from seven week's trip to various places in California, where she vis ited with relatives and friends. She drove down with her grandson, George Lane, who visited for a few days and then returned home while Mrs. Lane stayed for a longer visit. The sympathy of the com munity is extended to Mrs. Lewis (Dorothy) Jantzer of Medford, formerly of Trail on the death of her only brother, David Vestal, in a Medford hospital this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Strother of Shady Cove made a trip to Bend, Ore., over the week end, where they visited their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Strother Jr. Both Ed Sr. and Ed Jr. went on a fishing trip to Paulina lake. , Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mc Cormick of San Bruno, Calif., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Greenley of Shady Cove. Week end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bergren of Shady Cove were Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Sagaser of Brookings, Ore., parents of Mrs. Bergren and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Sagaser of Spring field, Ore. Kenny and Debbie Bergren returned to Spring field with the Leland Sagasers for a two-week visit. Mrs. A. M. Sagaser stayed over this week to help out while Mrs. Bergren is convalescing from minor surgery. Marine Sgt. Bill Brewster of Salem, Ore., visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brewster, over the week end and caught , three salmon in the river during his stay here. Dr. and Mrs. George Paul lus, daughter Sandra, and son Bill, and a friend, Don Dyer, all of Turlock, Calif., are visiting with Mrs. Paullus' sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Logan, of Shady Cove. Mrs. Max Hawks of Shady Cove entertained at her home on Friday evening, June 5, with a bridge party honoring the birthday of Mrs. Arley Spain. Cards were played dur ing the evening with prize for high score going to Mrs. Floyd Kelley and for low score to Mrs. Carroll Watson. A gift was presented Mrs. Spain from the group. Those present were Mesdames Carl Hanson, Adolf Larson, Arley Spain, Floyd Kelley, Carroll Watson, the ' hostess, Mrs. Hawks and Misses Maxine Hawks and Pat Hawks. Zoe Ann Hostetler of Cor nelius, Ore., granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Little field of Shady Cove, graduat ed this year from the Forest Grove High school. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Evers and Mr. and Mrs. Don Clas pill of San Francisco spent the week end recently with the Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Evers. Mrs. Claspill is the former Lois Evers. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nashecf of Shady Cove made a trip to Klamath Falls over the week end, where they visited with Mrs. Nashed's uncle, Ruben Peterson, and family and also saw her cousin, Ruben Peter son Jr., who was home from the University of Oregon for the week end. They also vis ited with another cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Del bert Miller in -Klamath Falls. Jim Hopkins, of Shady Cove, Bill Brewster and Bob Chamberlain of Trail, are on a trip to Portland, where they are attending the Masonic 'Grand lodge. Tom Greathouse of Port land was an overnight guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Watson of Trail. Tom is employed in the Portland Regional Office of the Forest service. . Mrs. Dave Hoppe and baby son, Darrell, of Eureka, Calif., Lloyd Davis of Shady Cove has returned from a three week's vacation trip which he took with his son and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davis, to Arkansas and Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holm berg and Mr. Holmberg's mother, Mrs. Holmberg, all of Oakland, Calif., are house guests of Mrs. Holmberg's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morehead of Trail. . .
