Vacation Program Set

Central , Point - A summer
vacation program in athletics
is planned lor the children in
the Central Point area. The
program, whifh is sponsored
by the city and schools, will
begin June 22.
Don Miller and Keith John,
son will direct ethe boys
groups. Mrs. Don Miller will
be the girls' athletic director.
Program activities aro planned
for boys from t to IS years.
More free play will be fea
tured this year tfttm last.
Fridays will bt "special"
days with a bike hike planned
for the first Friday, June 26.
Other special day plans in
clude swimming ptrtias, a pet
contest, wheel competition
and possibly a fish derby.
Boys who prefer sports other
than baseball will find other
activities in the program.
Two Pee Wee teams will
be organized this summer.
Also featured in baseball
will be the intermediate and
cub teams as well as the in-
termural teams. All boys in
terested in the program are
to meet for registration at 8
a.m. Monday, June 22, at the
Crater High school baseball
field.
Mrs. Don Miller Is in
charge of the girls program
which is planned for 6
through 18 years old. The
girls program will include
arts and crafts, free play, cro
quet, badminton, ping pong,
basketball, softball, baton
and tumbling
A girls' softball team will
be organized. Four softball
games with two Medford
teams are 'included in a ten
tative schedule.. Registration
date for the girls will be at
1 pan. Monday, June 22, at
the Central Point Junior
High school little gymnasium

ican Legion hall in Central

ing ceremony were Jody .Van

tin Chadd and Jack Snook.

sen, route 4, Medford, recent
ly participated in a NATO
field training maneuver in
Italy. The maneuver was con
ducted under simulated com
bat conditions.
Imhausen is a mechanic in
the 82nd Artillery's Headquar
ters and Service Battery in
Vicenza, Italy. He arrived in
Europe in May, 1958.

is serving aboard the attack
aircraft carrier, USS Ranger,
in the Western Pacific. The
Ranger is on a tour of duty
with the Seventh Fleet.

Harold Edgar Johnson became
manager of the local store of
a shoe chain this week, re
placing Ray Johnson who was
transferred to the Washington
store. Harold Edward Johnson
had been transferred a few
days earlier from Greensboro
to Philadelphia.

ment ruled Tuesday that Brit
ain's new flying saucer is not
an aircraft. The House of
Commons was told the exper
imental SRN-1 Hovercraft "is
a vehicle for sea or land
transport rather than an air
craft." The Hovercraft, which
has been undergoing trials
near Cowes in the Isle of
Wight, is capable of traveling
over land or water on a cush
ion of air.
