MAIL TRIBUNE, Medfori.Or. Monday, June 1, 1959 TABLE ROCK Lambs Top By R. E. NEALON Table Rock - A truck load of choice spring lambs left the J. L. Nealon stock yard Saturday bound for Portland where they topped the market at Tuesday's auction sale. The lambs weighed in at close to 100 pounds and were born in January and Febru ary. They came from the Ray Vogel and Don Bohnert farms near Central Point, and the owners claim the remarkable growth and grade was brought about by the. ration of feed given them. The feed was processed by a local valley mill, with all the ingredients, except minerals, and such grown on the owners farms. Frank Decker, and son, Billy, from down Applegate way, were here Sunday. Deck er was stripping the neighbor hod sheep of . their winter woolen duds and Billy kept busy tieing up the fleeces. Jim Glenn has accepted a position with a jewelry firm in Yreka, Calif., and is now working there. Other mem bers of the family are moving to the California city this wek end. Mrs. Gladys Schulz, who has made her home with the Glenns for some time, is moving to Ashland. The Glenn house will be for rent. Some pears here, it is said, suffered slight damage in some spots and varieties dur ing the long period of nightly .frosts. The first oriole of the sea son showed up here Monday, and soon got busy with song practice. ' Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Parsons of Escondido, Calif., where they spend the winters, and Madison, Wise, their summer home, were recent visitors with relatives at the Ray Dor an home. . A fair sized crowd turned out Friday evening at the choolhous for the Sunday School rally. A short program of music and songs was fol lowed by a talk and sleight of hand performances especially for the young folks by Lester S. Libby, pastor of the First Baptist church of Ashland. His unique approach proved to be interesting and enter- taining to the young people. The banner for the largest 'attendance of members pres ent was won by the local Sun day School, as also was the one for the highest percent age of the average attend ance. Everett Brown, manager of . the local irrigation ditch, re - porta that Rogue river at the . ditch Intake is already at its ' usual summer level. From the way the weather is behaving there will be a greater need . than usual here. The light showers we have evaporate by the afternoon winds. . - I Proceeds from what we used to call the farmers gold mine are being trucked each day from the Table Top Ranch feed lots to orchards near Medford. The Table Bock ladies club wil postpone their next meet , ing for a week, and will meet sat Tou Velle park June 17, "Wednesday. ( - Many from here attended the funeral of Mrs. McMan ama in Medford May 19, who died May 15 at the home of i her son, Herschel Harper, after a long illness. She was mostly known here as Mrs. .Harper where her former hus band, the ate Milton Harper and children lived on a farm in the west side of the dis- itrict. ' A' former school-teacher, she was keenly interested in school affairs, serving on the local school board as clerk, doing the work in a highly satisfactory manner. A gra cious lady whose life was not a bed of roses, she was never one to complain, but took life as it came, getting much hap piness and contentment as she journeyed along. Owing to federal regula tions, the irrigation ditch now : inside the road right-of-way along the Taylor and Robin son farms will be put into an underground tube, before the proposed road improvement will be commenced through here. The cost of putting in the tile to carry the water will be borne by federal, coun ty and land owners affected, according to reports.
