M. F. CAVIN . Hilts-Brownie Scout Troop 223 gave their Mothers' tea at the scout hall recently. The hall was decorated with spring flowers and bouquets of lilacs, tulips, and iris cen tered the tables. Place cards and a gift of an ivy geranium in a clothespin planter, made by the Brownies, were at each Mother's chair and single yellow tulip at each Brownie's place. Grace was said by Linda Goodwin. Refreshments of cake, cof fee and punch were served by the hostesses, Dolores Lu per and Donna. Burns. Birthday and world associ ation pins were given to Lin da Godwin, Gloria Chase and Elizabeth Brannon by their leader, Mrs. Luper. The Brownie promise was repeated by the girls and the hiking song and Brownie song were sung. Mothers attending were Mrs. Vera Burns, Mrs. John Brannon, Mrs. Lester Chase, Mrs. Robert Goodwin, Mrs. Jerry Gould, Mrs. Fred Haynes, Mrs. Victor Van de Weghe, Mrs. Russell Williams, and Mrs. J. Norris. Brownies present were Don na Burns, Elizabeth Brannon, Gloria Chase, Dolores Luper, Linda Goodwin, Gail Gould, Yvonne Van de Weghe, Clara Williams, Celia and Donna White and two visitors, Den nis Luper and Donna Good win, and leaders, Mrs. Gil bert Luper and Mrs. Robert Preston. and Mrs. Gino Trinca and boys. Among those attending the dedication of the Stockade at the Siskiyou Summit on Sun day were Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Cavin and Marcia; and Mr. Salem Man Found Dead Hear Stream Hoskins', Ore.-fflPD-A Salem fisherman was found dead near the Luckiamute river in southwest Polk county early today. Lowell Weese, 29, was believed to have died of a heart attack. Mrs. James Chapman, oper ator of Fishermen's Camp near here, said Weese went fishing about 11 a.m. Tues day. His father, Clarence E. Weese, assisted by state po lice, found the body about 4 a.m. today. The Polk county coroner's office ' said Weese apparently had a history of a heart condition. Dinner cuests Sunday at the M. F. Cavin home were Mr. and Mrs. Don Wilcox and children, Danny, Marilyn and Marlene of Ashland. Attending the funeral of Mrs. William Fraley held in Ashland Saturday, May. 16, were Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Eastman and Paula, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Luper and Mrs. M. M. Sief. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Rain water and children were over night guests in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Rainwater, in Riddle, Ore., Saturday night. Charles Vieira, Grady Rab john and Roland - Rainwater attended the funeral of Mel-; vin Cook in Ashland Satur day, May 16. Mr. Cook was killed in a logging accident near Shaft Rock, May 11. Mrs. M. G. King was host ess1 to the Bridge club in her home Thursday afternoon May 21.High score was won by Mrs. Al Simmen, second high by Mrs. Fred Haynes, and low by Mrs. Malcolm RobinsonT Others playing were Mrs. Art Blanchard, Mrs. Frank Ohlund, Mrs. Frank Graves, Mrs. H. W.dnwday, May 27, 1959 Wall Collapses . hi icacm juiuui; Girl, 13, Killed Houston, Tex.r-Dra-A heavy brick wall at McReynolds Junior High school crashed to the ground today Just as stu dents were entering for classes, killing a 13-year-old Charles E. Poe said the 10-foot long, seven foot high wall toppled sud denly as students were pre paring to enter the building. Gloria Rivera, 13, was pinned under the wall and killed in stantly. Father Couldn't Move Her father, Joe Rivera Sr., was standing 20 feet away and watched as the wall crashed down on hit daugh ter. Witnesses said Rivera was so paralyzed with fear that he couldn't move to help the girl. Rivera had just driven his daughter to the school and let her out in the driveway. Poe said he had "no idea" what caused the wall to col lapse. It was reported that students often played on it. Witnesses said Gloria was talking to another student, Jean Schubert, 14, at the back of the modern, two-year-old schooL The Schubert girl said she knew "something was wrong" with the wall and ran to safety.
