Several members of the Woman's Society of the Gold Hill Community Methodist church attended the May Fel lowship Day, luncheon at the First Methodist church in Medford recently. The affair is sponsored by the Medford Council of Unit ed Church woman to raise proceeds for the Bible history classes which are taught in the Medford public schools. Mrs. E. C. Hoffman, presi dent of the local Woman's So ciety, represented the Gold Hill group. Others going from here included Mrs. Lawrence Smith, Mrs. Harriett Elliott, and Mrs. Ivan Smith, who was among those introduced dur ing the afternoon by Mrs. William Meyers, Medford, who paid special recognition to Sunday school teachers present. Mrs. Paul Molloy was host ess for the last meeting of the Amethyst R'ebekah Friendship club at her home here. The next meeting of the group will be held May 18 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Harry Quinn, president of the club, on Highway 99, north. The Past Noble Grand's club of Amethyst Rebekah lodge held its annual dinner for members and families at the Odd Fellow's hall Thurs day, April 30. Mrs. Florence Hunt has re turned to her home in Nappa, Idaho, following a 10-day visit as guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Taylor, and daughters, Reba and Irita. Mexican Train Hits Bus, 17 Lose Lives Mexico City - (UPD - A speeding passenger train ploughed into a crowded bus on the Lardo highway Sun day night, killing 17 persons and injuring at least 30 others. The accident occurred eight miles outside Mexico City. The passenger train has just left the capital bound for Vera Cruz when it struck the bus at a grade crossing. The bus was returning from a sightseeing tour of the Teotihuacan Pyramid near here. Officials at the Ruben Lenero hospital said it had received 30 injured, several in critical condition. El Salvador laws require every man to vote. My husband and I are having a controversy about how to deal with a cer tain couple who are friends of ours. We have known the F.'s for three years and have enjoyed their company very much. But I am constantly being em barrassed by the fact that Mr. F. pays me too many com pliments especially in a way that is hurting his wife. , For example, Mr., F. will say, "You look gorgeous to night." Then he'll turn to his wife and say, "Why don't you get a dress like that? No, may be you shouldn't. It wouldn't look like that on you." I feel awful about this be cause Mrs. F. is a swell per son and I don't want to lose her friendship. I want my husband to tell Mr. F. to cut it out, but he doesn't want to get "mixed up" in this thing. ' x Gerald J. -1 know this guy F. like a book 'and I'm 100 per cent sure that if I talk to him about this thing he'll take it that I'm jealous. Not only would . I hate to give him the satisfaction of thinking that, but I'm afraid it will make matters worse. He'll then think that Rosalyn has become interested in him and will really make a play for her. I feel that Mrs. F. is much smarter than her husband and is too shrewd to take his silly blustering seriously. She al ways agrees with her husband that Roz looks great and never shows any jealousy. I think that Roz takes these compliments a little too ser iously. This guy isn't a bad sort and doesn't mean any thing by it. I think maybe I should start paying Mrs. F. a lot of compliments. . " , The Council: We think Ger ald is right not to want to rock this boat by having it out with Mr. F. But we don't think his alternative proposal is much good either. We can't blame Rosalyn for being annoyed, however.
