WATSON Shady Cove-Trail - A Moth er's day breakfast will be served on Sunday, May 10, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish hall in Shady Cove under the sponsorship of Our Lady of Fatima club. This is the second year that the breakfast has been held on Mother's day and promises to become an annual event. Mass is celebrated at 10 a.m. and serving will start imme diately after Mass at 11 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. There will be a special family price. Gary Williams of Camp White, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cross of Shady Cove, suffered third degree burns when he was conduct ing an experiment in the chemistry lab at the Eagle Point High school last week. Mrs. Josephine Leabo of Shady Cove fell in an acci dent at her home, breaking a bone in her ankle. She has her foot and leg in a cast and is convalescing at the home of her son. Lou Belvail of Shady Cove is confined to the Veterans hospital in Portland for treat ment and observation. Mrs. Belvail is planning to go up to Portland soon to be with him. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Harris of Shady Cove have sold their lot next to the Joe Waltz property to Lloyd Davis of Shady Cove. Mrs. Wallace Crank of the Shady Cove market is confin ed to a Medford hospital, where she is undergoing treat ment for pneumonia. She has been in the hospital almost two weeks. Newcomers to Shady Cove, although really old timers in the area, are Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Collier and four children who have purchased and mov ed into the Arley Spain house. Collier is a teacher in the Eagle Point grade school. He is the son of Mrs'. Albert Esten of Trail and grandson of the late Cora Train of Shady Cove. He lived on Laurelhurst road as a boy and is well-acquainted in the area. The sale was made by Mrs.' Ruth San ford, broker of Shady Cove. The sale of Mr. and Mrs. Kit Carson's trailer and ca bana house on River road next to the Ted Conways to Gen. and Mrs. Joseph Hicks was made through W. A. Darl ing, Inc., Shady Cove branch. Other newcomers to the area are Mr. and Mrs. William Sether and baby who are rent ing the house on the river owned by Mrs. Agnes Hubbell of Trail. Sether is employed by Ross Lumber company. Also moving to the Shady Cove area are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Greb who are renting the Hutchinson house in the Cove on the river. Mrs. Greb is the former Chloe WJllson, daughter of the Chet -Will-sons, former residents of Trail. The first large wedding to be held in the new Catholic church, Our Lady of Fatima, in Shady Cove took, place last Saturday, April 18, with Fath er Ilg of Sacred Heart church, Medford, officiating at the 11:30 ceremony. The church was decorated with Easter lilies, Shasta daisies, and white and pink carnations. Approximately 75 persons attended the wedding and re ception held immediately af terwards in the church hall. Sharon Lynn Henry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Henry of Medford, formerly of Shady Cove, became the bride of Norman Pierre Mills of Portland. The Henrys form erly built and owned the du plex directly across from the Catholic church. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Alworth of Medford were "gifests" at a surprise dinner on Sunday at their home in Medford in honor of Mrs. Alworth's birth day. Mrs. Pearl Adair of Shady Cove and Mrs. Irwin Howe of Trail prepared and served the dinner. Those at tending were Mr. and Mrs. Howe, Mrs. Pearl Adair, Har vey Anderton of Monte Vista, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Al worth. More newcomers to Trail are Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sy monds and one - year - old daughter who are renting one of Jack Ross's houses. Jerry is the son of Mrs. John Dick enson of Shady Cove. He is employed by Cascade Wood Products at Camp White." Mr. and Mrs. Arend Fryling of Sacramento, Calif., are par ents of a girl born April 14. The baby, who has been nam ed Deborah Lynn, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Paul Lozden and Mrs. Desiree Fryl ing, both of Shady Cove. The baby is the first girl born to the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mack ley and children of Los An geles have been -visiting with Arthur's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mackley of Shady Cove. Other guests of the Mackley's have been Mrs. Jim Booth of Grants Pass and Mrs. Dee Booth of Central Point. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Perry and family of Trail have sold their home on Lewis creek to Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Sitzer and family of Elk Creek. The sale was made by Mrs. Florence Fagalde of Vandergrift-Leev-er and Whalin. The Perry's made a trip to Portland this past week end to see Mrs. Perry's father, H. E. A Wednesday April 29, 1 959 Officers Attend Information Session Fifty law enforcement offi cers from southern Oregon counties discussed crime and racketeering with federal agents at the Medford city hall Tuesday. J. E. Milnes, special federal bureau of investigation agent from Portland, led the dis cussions during the three-hour conference. He was assisted by two other FBI agents. The meeting, Milnes ex plained, was the third of four being held in Oregon under a program designed to en courage a freer exchange of information among federal, state and local law enforce ment agencies. Subjects dis cussed included FBI opera tions in cooperation with oth er agencies and FBI facili ties for scientific examination of evidence and identification work. Officers attending repre sented the Oregon state po lice, Jackson county sheriff's office, and municipal agencies' in Jackson, Josephine, Doug las and Klamath counties, Several Medford officers at tended. Portland -IUPD- Portland's 1959 traffic death toll was raised to 15 Tuesday when Roderick L. McGrath, 71, Portland, died in a hospital from injuries suffered when struck by a car March 30. Mr. and Mrs. Chet Pfluke and family have moved from Ukiah, Calif., to Fort Bragg, Calif. Mrs. Pfluke is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Segessenman of Shady Cove, Mr. and Mrs. Lennis Smith and family are planning to move back into this area from Albany, Ore., where they have been living since leaving Shady Cove. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Melton and family of Grants Pass have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Penning ton of Shady Cove. The Eagle Point, Elk-Trail and Shady Cove elementary school bands entertained with band concerts at the various schools during this past week. Gary Monical and Keith Krambeal are the music teach ers. Mrs.. Myrtle Jones of Los Angeles is visiting with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sattler, of the Busy Beaver motel.
